who's a tad paranoid. Iz have groovey hair cut and they even shaved near my botty.
A very sleepy Amy.............
Mum here
The first pick up was scary and to then let us go home even more scary. Oliver when we arrived was looking sad, but when I came in to the front garden with her he was extatict.
We have her in a bumper bed and started out witha fence round it to keep Oliver at bay. She has really learned to talk, or should we say demand! They have given us some tablets, no name on them for a week, plus she has a pain patch that comes off to-morrow night. I was worried about her mooing in case she was in pain and called the surgery. They said she would be upset and restless, and if we touched near the site she would be jumpy, she was not so its a "I want attention "
We went to bed early last night about 9 as we were all exhausted. We left her in her fenced bed, she wa not happy with that as she kept looking over at Oliver, but we were scared that asleep they would hit each other, she settled after I put one of her normal bed blankies with smells under her sheet, plus gave her my bra to lie on. Midnight she decided was piddle time, and then with Oliver's nose touching they both slept , till 3 then madam wanted a drink, nad we all slept till 7.
Spoke to the Physio, she is sending some simple exercises for us to start prior seing her to-morrow. She can get up and support her weight for a bit, and I have made a wide tummy support, as she did not like the thin one. Lisa said it was Ok for her to just want to rest for the first few days, as I was a tad worried as they said she had been up at the surgery. She said to give her time.
So Nick is going off to get some anti skid mats for the tiled area and to see about a pen.
We had some good news her insurance should cover about 80% of it, not that would have stopped us. The company when we joined did not have breed exclusions, then after a year they changed it, but we thought nothing about it. Then I remembered that as one of the big UK firms had started up in Oz they had changed the exclutions, and she is covered.
Many thanks for all your thoughts they are appriciated and knowing we have somewhere to ask questions and get support from.
Roberta
Yay!!!!! Even though it's scary for you and Nick, she is much better at home. The first night is the scariest and that's in the past now. You'll get a routine going and she'll get better and better every day. Thanks for the update. Keep them coming as you have time.
So glad Amy is home :comfort:....and....mum and dad you get a kiss and a hug too :comfort: I know you are scared right now....everyone is at this time...but it will be okay...I promise! Just take your time and relax...try not to show Amy that you are nervous or upset as she can pick up on that....I believe Oliver will keep her good company (he does know she is not feeling herself) and he will comfort her. I slept on the floor next to Zoe's crate for 8 weeks.....we just do what we have to do and what we feel is right....you will get into a routine and it will run like a fine oiled machine...lol...the bra with your scent was an excellent idea. More will follow...Again, so glad Amy is home....she must be relieved....now the healing process can really begin. Love and Hugs; Cheryl, Zoe, Winston and Sheba.
Amy, you are a brave Wee One and btw, you deserve to be demanding. Do you exercises every day and soon you'll be much much better
Mum, you are very courageous, as well. AND A GOOD MUM! Both you and Nick have really stepped up to the plate for this sweet pea. With you continued excellent care, I bet it won't be long before our Amy is back to doing what she does best.....lovin' mom, dad and Oliver and just being her little wee Amy self.
I think all of us who have been through this, have the hair on the backs of our necks standing up about now! Delia said it well...you will get into a routine and see that Amy actually is NOT going to break and you will gain confidence, things will get easier! It is so hard when you can't explain to them that they are not in there because they are in trouble, it's for their own good. I'm sure you and Nick both have to be worn right down to your socks. Hang in there the good news is that Amy is expected to make a full recovery she is doing very well for this point and with your wonderful care she will make it thru this with flying colors.
Ahhhh wee Amy - so glad you are home. Sending mom and dad many rays - they will do just fine though - just gotta get through the first couple days. We will be anxious for reports - so keep us posted !!!
Its such a scary thing when they have back surgery. Sounds like Amy is doing well, all things considered. How wonderful the insurance covers most of the cost!!!
I am so glad she is home! :hello2: Each day will get a little better and a little easier. :comfort:
Yeahhhhhh! Our Wee Amy girl is home safe and sound where she belongs! Hang in there Roberta...it sounds like your doing everything right. Remember the advice that you gave me when Toby-Man was so sick.... Baby steps are all that are required!
Roberta,
Glad to hear that Amy is home and doing ok. Gentle belly rubs to her, and a hug to you! Sometimes I think it's harder on the mommy than it is on the furkid.
How is our Amy today Roberta (and her mum and dad and brudder?)
Feet and paws tapping here....we need an update on our wee Amy !
