Title: Maryland Bow Wow
Post by: David C. on August 02, 2007, 07:10:34 PM
Okay, so we looked at the calendar, and barring that I get anything from my work that is going to make me have to work on this date, we're planning on a Bow Wow on Sunday, September 30th.   I should know by Sept. 1 if the date is going to remain good...so mark your calendars!

We'll have contests for Weiner Bobbing, Longest of the Long, Floppiest Ears, (Zeke is a shoe-in for that one!), Fastest Nose, and I'm tempted to try to run an informal weiner race across the backyard**   I know Zora is pretty darn quick!

**Disclaimer - This is not an endorsement of weiner racing, but just a fun event with a bunch of friends.

Hi David,

We will be there.  There is a dachshund meet up near us one week from Saturday.  We will see how Fella does at the meet up.  Also, his foster mom will be there and I will ask her about how he fared at the picnic in New Jersey.  If I get a good report from her and he does well, then we will bring Fella.  If he bullies anyone the way he has bullied Skeeter, he will have to stay home, but the rest of the pack will go.

Fella can't be any worse than Rudy was.   We can always set up a "doggy jail" for those puppers who aren't being sociable.   If you recall, Rudy got thrown in "jail" at one of the previous Bow Wows.

Tee hee!  I remember one of Al's dogs had to go to "jail" when we were at his home - either Happy or Noodles kept picking on Gretl - this was two years after her back surgery, plus she was so timid anyhow.  Gretl would stand behind me and bark - lol!

Sounds like fun!  Enjoy, everyone... :thumb:

We are planning a trip up to Maine in the middle of September and will be heading back to Florida right around then.  I would love to bring my crew if you don't mind four more! I'll have to discuss it with Keith but I sure would love to meet the Z's!

Hey, if you puppers need some inmate representation, I'd be happy to serve as prisoner rep!  After all, I am a Pelican Bay alumnus.

Um Beau,

Are you suggesting that by meeting you, Fella will gain the same knowledge he would receive if he was sent to con college?  I'm not sure I like that.  Fella is trouble enough already.

But if you both promise to be good boys, then you may play together.

I beg your pardon, Madam, are you suggesting that Mr. Longfellow consorting with me, a famous and well-respected member of the Americn bar Association would somehow be a less than desirable interaction?

I assure you that time spent with Dr. Leaky is time well-spent!  I look forward to the opportunity to meet both young Mr. Fella and his hooman, upon whose shoes I most definitely will NOT leak.

Very truly yours,

Dr. Leaky

I am in Annapolis and would be interested.  We've never been to one.  Since Vivie is still young and great at socializing this sounds neat.  Where are you located??

We're in Damascus.  You would just go up 97 to 32 and then take the back roads to cross over to our location.  It's about 45 minutes to 1 hour drive.

Sure, come on by!  At our last Bow Wow in 2003, we had 15 dachshunds, so we're hoping to equal that.  What we discovered is that when you put that many dacshies in one place, they become more like fish in an aquarium.   All the dacshies seemed to just circulate, it was just too large of a group for them to form any kind of pack order, so they went about sniffing each other and moving on to the next dachsie.

We're going to have to find another date for the Bow Wow.   I have to work on this date  :pottytrain5:

October is pretty much shot for me, as is early November.   Maybe we'll shoot for March or April of next year.
