Title: cwazy skiwwel
Post by: Leslie on August 02, 2007, 08:18:54 AM
There are two juvenile squirrels living in our big tree.  I think they were abandanded or lost their mother somehow.  Anyway, these two (we named them Orville and Sarah) are not one bit afraid of the dogs and actually come down out of the tree  while the dogs are nearby.  They have come so close to me that I was able to determine their sex!  Yesterday Loki was snarfing up apples on the ground near the tree and one of them was on the ground not 5 feet away.

To me, this is not neccessarily a bad thing, but the racket that Zuzu could wake the dead. Drivin' me nutz!!!!!!!  Plus I think sumbuddy gonna end up as lunch.

When a skiwwel like that darts in front of da car we always call out, "Skiwwel with a death wish!" :verdict:

Sound like da one in your yard has all their affairs in order and dey are "waiting to die."

The Zs kind of have a take-it-or-leave-it attitude towards squirrels.   Zeke will chase them when he feels like it, Zora could care less.

One morning Zora was doing her business in the backyard no more than five feet away from a rabbit.   The rabbit and Zora were looking eye to eye?   Did Zora give chase?  Nope, she turned around and headed in for breakfast.

Rudy-angel, on the other hand, would go ballistic over squirrels.  He would actually chase them up the trees.   Sometimes he would get 2 - 3 body lengths up a tree trunk before the laws of gravity finally kicked in.

Dolly was our brave huntress.  While both girlies had their share of possums, it was always Dolly who was the instigator.  Maddie would much rather snuggle than chase rodents.  She says getting bellyrubs are a much better way to spend her time.

Yes those darn squirrels!!!!
They like to tease the dogs big time,,, sitting just out of reach,,,taunting...
even being so brave as to try to sneak some dogfood.

It just takes patience to wait for the right moment...

dog food becomes squirrel food becomes dogfood...
they are not safe here anymore......
