The dogs together alias: the Doglettes, the Loud Ones, the Velcro Twins, Your furry Boys (having 5 children, 3 of them boys, the dogs become my husbands furry boys when they misbehave)
Champ is 6 years old and thinks the only way to exist is to eat for ten minutes a day and the rest of the day sleep on the nearest lap. He will make himself comfortable and he will push you untill you are sitting in the position he want you to be in. He is a tweeny and at 14 lbs he will need to lose some weight after the steriod gain recently. He does love his food!!!!
Smokey is our 3 year old 9 lb mini who does not have time for anything. He wants to play when it is time to eat. He thinks that every dog in the neighbor hood is there for him to play with, even the BIG dogs next door who do not like him. He runs through the house and always looses his footing on the tile floor and there is a dirt spot on the wall where he hits it everytime we take him out for a walk. He comes around the corner and slides into the same spot every time. You think after three years he would learn!! He does not take the time to finish his dinner (we question his dachshundness on that one, we think it might be brain damage from once too many times against the wall in the hall)
Even though I only talk about Blusky&Manny on here we do have 4 Dachshies at my house.I have Blusky&Manny;and my nephew has 2 named Annie&Fritz.

I once read this Robin Cook book about psychotic doctors, and one of them goes crazy and starts hunting his wife with a shotgun. She grabs her POODLE (see posts on Alaskan stalking Iditarod poodles!) who promplty starts growling at the good doctor and gives away their hiding place.
That night I had a nightmare about hiding from Nazis and Guinness giving away MY hiding place. I told one of my daughters, who immediately started up in a thick German accent, "Zey are over hier. Zey are hiding over hier!" When we were done laughing, she picked up Guinness and cuddled him, cooing to him, "Mein little Fuhrer." She's the ONLY one with the gumption to call a German dachshund in a Jewish home a Nazi!! :2funny:

Patches is Junior, Patch-pooch, Licky-sticky and Trash!
Cocoa :angel4: was Cocoa beans, Beans, Beanie, Brown Dog, and The Queen.
Ozzy - "Maynard," "Doodle-man," "Poopers." He answers to all, especially if we have a treat in hand.
Did you know that dogs in general respond to your tone of voice as opposed what you say? Pinky, my daughter, proved it when she was calling out to Guinness, "Mein Fuhrer. Mein little Fuhrer" and he would come wagging and smiling EVERY time!
Dogs respond beautifully to name changes. People get hung up on what to call the dog, but this post proves that your dog can have 47 nicknames and he/she will respond every time. Voice inflection is the most important. When Beau got loose on the way to the kennel and circled the neighborhood with me in hot pursuit, he finally got tired and started to come to me. I was saying all kinds of unprintable things as I coaxed him over with my friendliest tone of voice, "You rotten miserable run-away stinky dachshund from he#@, I would wring your neck if the neighbors weren't all out here, laughing and watching me." And he waddled over, just so proud of himeself for coming to me!

Absolutely! When Pootsie first came home I would say 'your a baby' to her and she would always look at me and cock her head and as soon as I repeated it she would run over to me. To this day (I still call her a baby) if I use that same tone it doesn't matter what I say-- she comes running!

Yep. Years ago I proved it to my mom. Her poodle-at-the-time (2nd of 4) (poodles lie) would turn herself inside out when asked (in a sing-songy voice by my mom) if she wanted to go for a ride. So, with my mom sitting in the room I asked Amber "did you know there is a hippopotomus in the bathtub?" in the same manner. BAM!!! She was running around in circles and I had to take her for a ride (house rule #1 - make Amber crazy by saying the "R" word and you get to go around the block with her.).
When she's in trouble, it's Brekke Schokalade von Braun - her full registered name. (She is spayed, though.)
Otherwise, she is Barky, the Brekster, Brekke B, Licky Lou (when she can't hold her licker), Baby Girl, or Beautimous Brekke.
Oops - there's also Fuzzy Butt.
It looks like my previous post didn't post. Oh well.
Cajsa is Cajsa girl, baby girl, Pootie-boot, Cajsa Ann (which is her real name), batdog, Pooter, etc. Of course there's also Goat-dog and variations of that.
Gretchen is gretchie girl, fatty boombah, stinky girl, and goose. Gretchen doesn't really do nicknames. She just looks at you with a vacant expression on her face most of the time so most names she's been called don't stick.
When they are in trouble it's almost always "HOUNDS!" because it involves both of them. When it possibly involves the Elf too, it's "GIRLS!" They all get called the other's names simply because I get them mixed up. Cajsa, Gretchen, Morgan they all stop and look at me when I start going through the list! lol
LOL I wonder how often any of our dogs get called by their real names.
Hallie is:
Mooshie

Zeke was also Ezekiel when he was naughty and sometimes we called him zeke the sheik. That was what Daddy want to name him .
Zelda was also know as dobiedox and before she had her pups we called her bimbette...after the pups she was no longer in training so we called her bimbo. Not the best thing to call out in public. :doah:
Zack is also known as zackster baxter when he is naughty, wacky, wackyzacky and daddy calls him wacky tabaccy. We also called him "the little saint" for putting up with Zena's antics(never thought he would tolerate it from another dog) that was something we never thought we would say. :shocker:
So far Zena is also known as Zena da beana, beanie baby and Tina orTina Turner for the way she blasts around here. :rescue:
