I'm not one of those who bathes my dachsies on a regularly scheduled basis. Basically, I bathe them when I can't take the smell anymore. I got to that point about two weeks ago, the problem was Zora still had her stitches from getting a skin tag removed...so no baths. The last bath they had was right before they went to visit Jeri & Kevin...about two months ago! Finally, I got to them last night. Zora, with her shiny coat takes a pretty good soaking to get her wet enough for shampoo. The first couple of "splooshes" from the cup simply roll off her back! Zeke is far easier to clean.
After the water was let out, I was astonished how much dirt and fur was in the tub. I had to turn the shower on and clean up their ring around the tub. Man, for some little dogs, they sure get dirty...and hide it so well!
When I let them out afterwards, I warned both of them "Don't you DARE go and roll in something!" They both complied.
LOL!!! Two words.....The Works! For bathtub ring, works like a charm. Great for showers too.
Hey David you're not the only one with "DOG HAIR" around the tub! You're lucky with only Zeke&Zora,at my house we have "4" to bathe at a time!!!!! :thumb:
YUCK!! I do know what you are talking about though...sometimes when it has been a while since Penny's last she can be pretty dirty and the tub is so gross afterward!!
The Herd fits nicely in my 10 inch deep kitchen sink. When I was in California, they got the total spa treatment and came home with absolutely no smell at all!

Ain't it disgusting? Almost as bad as when I run the Bissel carpet shampooer. Gross.
Imagine washing a LONGHAIR. The dirt in Zuzu's feets--yuck.
Before Loki gets her baff (and they only get washed 2 times a year on a warm spring or fall day) I take the sticky lint roller to her and pull off all the loose fur. This takes some patience and about 6 cookies--one for every sheet of sticky lint roller, it does seems to help.
We bath the crew ouside on the patio in a big metal tub thing during the summer months. Makes life a whole lot easier! We got one of those "soaker" wands for the hose which works great! The water in Florida is never really cold anyway...especially in the summer. After they are bathed I close them in the screen room because they WILL find dirt to roll in if I let them stay outside. In the winter we use the tub....not nearly as easy to clean as the metal tub.
It always amazes me just how dirty the bellys get..although it shouldn't given the proximity to the ground!
