Due to an accident I found myself confined to the sofa yesterday and I happened upon Oprah's program on her Angels relief efforts.
On Monday this week, Matthew McConahay (sp?) went into NO and rescued the doctor that had promised to stay with the family pets that were at the hospital in NO. They flew them all out. Included in the film was a little Doxie! The good news is that all got out and many have already been re-united with their families.
I would love to see that show - maybe they will replay it. There are so many heartwarming stories of our furry ones getting saved......but so sad - there are so many stories where they are not. It breaks my heart...
The reumion was shown on ABC's "Good Morning America." It's very heart-warming to hear that animals are being rescued.
There was a story in yesterday's Tampa Tribune about a family that stayed as long as they could. When the flood waters came up the coast guard came to save them and they couldn't take their two dogs and their two ferrets (one of the dogs was a doxie). They put them all in the attic and prayed. They came back the next day in a canoe and rescued them. All of the animals are fine and they have relocated to the Tampa area for the time being.
My heart aches for all of the pets that are still out there needing to be rescued.
