Title: OMG!!!! MY HAIR!!!!!!!!!!
Post by: doxielady5569128 on July 12, 2007, 11:25:21 PM
Hey guys,
I am really really really upset.  I went to get my hair done at a local beauty shool.  Mistake number 1.    :doah:  The only reason i went there was cause my friend needed someone to practice on.     So..being the nice STUPID person that I am I agreed to let her hightlight my hair.  Normally I have dishwater blond hair.   But, now its all platinum blond with a little oragney tint to it.  WHAT DO I DO??  HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Needless to say, I am NOT happy about this.  Aside from shaving my head what can I do.  Thanks.

I think there is a prossess that can reverse so speak to a good trained hairdresser. My mum had a similar problem.

I agree with Roberta - go see a professional - I am sure they can reverse or cover up somehow.

Sorry, but I had to giggle - I have a similar story.  My sister in law went to beauty school (its been about 20 yrs) and they encouraged family and friends to come up there so they could "practice".   I went for some highlights or light streaks and she pulled way too much hair through the cap and I went away with a 90% frosted head !!!  I just left it and kinda got used to it - but I have never been that blonde/platinum again !!!!

Let us know what you do !

I say go with the new look and tell nosy people you are going for an edgy look.

But then I'm partially follically challenged and would be happy for any color hair on my forehead...

:2funny:  Well.  I called up a professional yesterday and they said they can't do anything for three weeks to fix it.   If they were to do something I would risk my hair falling out.   They said the most I can do is wash it over and over again and it "might"  fade a little.

Well, I guess I can live with my wild hair.  Let's see how many, "compliments" I get today. HA HA

Barb,
This brings a chuckle to me too.  We were married 37 years on July 11th.  Thirty seven years ago about 4 days before the weddding, I decided I wanted my hair frosted before the wedding and my future sister-in-law was going to do it for me.  :badidea: She got the hair pulled trough and then my mother-in-law (who was a beautician many years ago) walked past and didn't think she had enough through. So she pulled more through.  I almost died when we pulled the cap off.  The whole front of my head was white!!!!!

I was staying with my grandparents before the wedding and they were sleeping when I got back that night.  The next morning I knew I had to do something about it now!!!!  Told grandfather I was too "sick " to go to work (standing there with a towel around my head).  He argued with me and so I finally said this is why I can't go in and whipped the towel off.  I thought he was going to have a heart attack.

Finally got it dyed back all one color and never tried to frost it again.

If it is just that it is lighter there are some rinses that you can put on to tone it down that I think you can use right away.  I can't remember the name of them but they put color highlights over the hair.
I tried that but mine had no color and my normal color was med golden brown.  No way could they cover this up.

One of the color glazes that are out now may help a little. They are not harsh at all and you usually use them once a week. Also, if you call the school you went to, the instructors are supposed to take care of getting the hair the way it is supposed to be, at least the do at the schools here. That is why they have instructors that are trained to do things the RIGHT way. Have you called the school yet. Also, did anyone see your hair when she was through with it?

Teresa,
Yes the instructor looked at my hair when she was done.   All she did was kinda chuckle and say there wasn't much we could do unless I wanted to let her try to put lowlights in my hair to tone it down.   The instructor said she didn't think it looked that bad and that she thought it looked like I got my hair dyed.   So...all in all, the instructor wasn't much help.  Oh Well.

So...far i haven't gotten any rude comments about my hair.  Or funny looks either.  So...maybe its just me freaking out cause it is sooo much different looking than I am used to.  Who knows!!   :dontknow:

My husband just keeps laughing and saying, "honey, its not that bad, I don't know why you are freaking out."

Oh my!
I did something similar but worse to myself and ended up having white patches that looked like bald spots.
If you want to fix it please do not try to do it yourself.  First condition, condition, condition.  Highlights strip the color from your hair via bleach or peroxide so you cannot undo what was done.  You can only deposit color which would mean adding some low-lights or dyeing it all over but don't try it yourself because you could end up with orange or green hair... I have seen it happen.  I have a great deal of respect for the abilities of a good hair- dresser.  There is no reason they cannot add low lights or all-over color.... but should not use any bleach or peroxide containing product.  After my incident, I had my hair re-done by a professional and it was much better but cost me $160.  So it was an expensive lesson.

Maybe you can post a picture of yourself so we can be the judge.....   LOL, sorry for teasing!
Good luck and I bet it isn't half as bad as you think it is.
