Hi all, yes it's true!!! I am officially the world's BIGGEST clutz!!!! :apls: I stumbled in a hole at the side of our house, sprained my ankle caught myself on my right pinkie and broke it.... Well, at least that means my hubby will FINALLY fill that stupid thing in.... lol Hope you all had a better weekend than me... :doah: Shouldn't I get some kind of an award for being so clutzy??? lol Hopefully I am healed good enough before my trip to Seattle.... :xfinger: Take care all of you, and hopefully my clutzyness doesn't rub off.... :BangHead:

I will raise my hand on this one!! I am the biggest klutz in the world! On Friday I was bringing some boxes in from the car and I lost my grip on one....it snagged my flip flop...and down I went. I fell on the cement with my left hand under me. I have abrasions on my hand and shoulder. Luckily nothing broke but my hand swelled like a watermelon! I broke some of the blood vessels and now it is swollen and black... Thank goodness no one was logged into the Pennycam!

My main klutzie moments is sprawling myself on sidewalks and tripping in the middle of intersections---WITH CARS COMING! I'm good at missing steps and just last month, the rusty ol' broken antenna on the car ATTACKED me, yes it did. Got the gash on my arm to prove it. While I can ding myself up, I don't believe I've ever broken anything.....just my pride. Tara, try to enjoy your vacation. You DESERVE it.

Let's just say that the one orthopedic surgeon I saw in 85 that told me no more stairs knew what he was talking about!!
After that I took a header from the top of stairs at the office i was loaned out too, thankfully there was a landing cuz it was still close to 20 steps. They took me to the hospital, and the EMT's were really ticked i had moved from the original position of prone, head first!(they were sure back injury I was SURE head injury cuz i literally landed on my glasses and eye. ) had stitches and my eye swelled shut 2 different times the next week. But gravity was causing major bleeding from my facial injuries, and i didnt like the feel of the blood all rushing to my head so much.
The office was very shocked when I showed up for work the next morning. i said coming to work was much easier than driving 155 miles home. I confess I looked awful with black eye, and the replacement glasses didnt fit well.
that was major topped when I fell down my front steps in 92 and was off work for almost 6 months due to a seriously broken leg(it was also the leg that has major arthritis problems.
I no longer willingly use stairs and when I have to I tend to scare people. I go down steps backwards. If anyone is dumb enough to come up the steps while I am going down....that is their problem!! I would rather break a rib, and hand or arm than a shoulder, leg or my neck!!
I have also fallen stepping off a curb at work, and the supervisor who came racing out in a panic finally started believing me when i said it is NOT safe for me to try to get over a snowbank if they dont clear the sidewalks, etc. My balance is still messed up from using a walker for 5 years.

:verdict: Well, I am happy to know that I am not the only clutz on the board... lol Although, I must say, I am one to fall off of curbs also, but I was carrying plants that my mom had gave to me, I didn't want to drop them, so I just went down hard on my knees.... OUCH!!! :bandaid: And, I to have done the stair fall... :doah: I was 4 months pregnant with my son, slipped at the top and landed at the bottom in the splits, I was on the phone at the time also and that ended up in the far room from the stairs.... The bedrest was good though.... hee hee.... :rolleyes: I am curious to hear about Leslie starting herself on fire also, that definately wins.... And, of course, Emmy is taking care of me, or should I say trying to trip me around every corner..... :BangHead: She makes sure to pop out when least expected and get right under my feet.... So, to avoid stepping on her, I trip over her and catch myself on that same danged pinky!!!! How is it that when you are hurt, you always seem to hurt it more after the fact??? Or, is that just me???? The charmin is a good idea Papbouv, I can just imagine what that would look like... hee,hee :2funny: I am still going on vacation, broken pinky, sprained ankle(it's the one that was just broken, no less...), I do deserve it.... I think the kids and DH need a break from me and my clutzy self too.... (raising hand) Well, when I was 18, I fell UP a hill. I had parked my car in the campus parking lot, and was walking up the culvert (shortcut) to the crosswalk to get on campus, when I fell up. I ripped the snot out of my left knee - splitting the tendon, and ruining my brand new left shoe - lime green patent with the clear lucite heel - sniff! However, I did not even get a run in my pantyhose! My friends called me "Chester" (as in Gunsmoke) for about 4 weeks as I hobbled around.
But nothing beats Leslie setting herself on fire!

Last year DH and I went to the Philadelphia Flower Show. So, we’re standing in the middle of the Civic Center, oooohing and ahhhing at the pretty flowers and totally surrounded by gray-haired old ladies wearing tweed. (And nuns"did I forget the nuns last time?) I’m fumbling absent-mindely with something in my coat pocket and I’m thinking “WHAT the heck is this in my pocket?” Just as my mind registers that they are the two packs of matches I picked up at the restaurant earlier, my honking coat pocket
BURSTS INTO FLAMES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I start flapping my hand (still inside the pocket) while going: “S**t! S**t!!!!” Finally I withdraw my hand (duh) and the now engulfed glove with it"and stomp out the glove on the floor. Aforementioned little old ladies look on in disgust. Spent the train ride home with my hand in a Big Gulp cup fulla ice. Two second degree burns and a bruised pride all so I could get DeeDee to blow soda through her nose.

I just really have to say here I think doxies make the very very very best nurses!!!! They really fuss over us, they keep us occupied, and at times they are very energetic about guarding us!!
When i broke my leg, I was on the way to work, just had to drop Twinkie off at sisters for doggy day care! Well the leash ended up UNDER me. Luckily the lady that heard me calling for help cut through my back yard as requested since my sister was just one street over and my Brother in law was outside waiting for me. He came right over, and then I think he held twinkie while pulling the flexi out from under me. There was NO way anyone else was getting anywhere near me!! Then he took her over to their house. But I have to say that long long time off work, when i really could not do diddly was made bearable MAINLY because of my little nursemaid Twinkie!!
