I just went to the breeders website to see if any thing had updated or changed and she added a phrase to her limited registration note on bottom of available puppies page. It NOW says that papers are given once the puppy has been spayed or neutered and proof has been sent to her from your vet. I AM SOOO MAD! That is not what the site stated before and obviously she has gotten my e-mail from last saturday and that is what prompted her to add that blurb to her site! Why couldn't she just call me or e-mail me and explain that to me? Why would she avoid me?? I don't think she can legally do that anyway can she? Why doesn't she just draw up a contract with the new owner at time of purchase that states the pup has to be spayed or neutered within a certain amount of time. Pups at 8 weeks old (which is when i got Bandit) can't be spayed or neutered at that age anyway! ugggg!!

I'm so sorry that this has been such a frustration! I'm not sure if they can do that or not - it would seem that they should provide the papers when you take the puppy home which is what happened when we got Penny...
Sorry to hear of your further aggravations! When I got Brekke, I knew I would get paperwork for her vet check - had to be done within 72 hours of her arrival, and that she was sold under a spay/neuter agreement - I had to get her spayed as soon as the vet okayed it. My vet doesn't spay until 6 months or first heat - whichever is first. After that, I got her registration and sent off for her pedigree (which was kind of silly, because you can't show when they're spayed or neutered, but I wanted it!). However, as someone pointed out, if I did enter her in earthdog or agility, it would have been easier to enter with her papers all in place.
When I got CJ & Jake they were both sold as Pet Quality was out of state the breeder gave me all paper work at the time of purchase and with Jake his AKC papers were limited registration.I do not think AKC was doing the limited registration back then, since i did not want to mess with unaltered boys I always have my boys / and or girls fixed always sent a coppy to the breeder.Allot of breeders reqire spay / neuter in their cintracts. My contract with Buddy's breeder was if I did not want the dog at anytime in his lifetime he was to go back to the breeder, must be neutered, must go though an obedience class.I still got the AKC papers with the 16 week old pup.

Why is she playing such mind games?????? If you wanted to breed Bandit, you couldn't register the litter without papers. If you bred him with a limited registration, you couldn't register the litter. Either way, she is not changing the registration possibilities of Bandit's litter, if you were dead set on breeding him. That is the whole idea behind limited registration - to make a pet quality pup less likely to be bred because the litter would not be as much money since you can't register them!
I got papers for both of mine when I got them. I have never heard of a breeder doing what she is doing to you. Too bad you already paid her. That would have gotten her attention. Does she live far from you? I would be tempted to show up at her door if she's close.
The limited registration has been around at least since 1994. I put it on my pups from Zelda's litter. The breeder can change it to a full registration later if they want to but they are the only ones who can change it.
I do know that a lot of breeders who will insist on proof of sterilization before they will release the papers.
