Title: Good News...I hope!
Post by: TerriL on June 18, 2007, 08:55:39 AM
We called Dr. M. this morning because Toby-Man's ear continued to swell over the weekend and it was obviously hurting him.
Keith took him in at 8:45.  He tried to drain it again and said that there was NO BLOOD.  What it happening is a lot of inflamation and swelling.  He had been on the Rimadyl twice a day last week.  He took the last one on thursday evening.  It was friday when Dr. M. noticed the tip of the ear swelling.  Naturally when he drained it he found some blood in there (probably just a normal amount ) which is why he was concerned that the vein was bleeding again.  Evidently it is NOT.  So now he is back on the Rimadyl and hopefully the swelling and inflamation will go down.  This is really excellent news although I am hoping the swelling goes down quickly because it is making him so uncomfortable.  The stiches and tubes are still in place so the ear swells around them and that causes stress on the sutures which HURTS.
Thanks for all the rays and prayers everyone.....we would be grateful to have them keep coming our Toby-Mans way!

Sending more HHHH's & PPPPP's for Toby.  Hope he feels better soon.
Tell him at least they didn't tape both of his ears on top of his head.  Our original doxies, Gretel would bite Hansi's ears when he bugged her.  one time it wouldn't stop bleeding so we took him down to the vet they got it stopped and put a bandage on.  We didn't even make it back to the car and he opened it up from shaking his head, so back in we went.  Norb decided that the only thing to do was to tape both his ears on top of his head for a few days so it could heal enough that he would start the bleeding right up.  Hansi acted like he was ashamed and walked around with his head down till we took it off.  But it did work.
