I am finally able to post in here, more than 3 months later. A ruptured gastric ulcer took her. I knew she was never a "healthy" dog, but she was about as healthy as a double-dapple could be.
10 years and much love.
I still say goodnight to her every night, and I touch my pillow in the place she slept for 10 years.
I know I can't be Dachshund-less for much longer, it's eating away at me.
My heart breaks for you. Godspeed to your Tabytha - she will be watching over you. We would love to hear stories of your time together and see pictures if you have some to post.
I hope that when you feel the time is right that you will consider rescue as there are so many doxies out there that need loving homes - and yours sounds perfect.
Please share with us your Tabytha -
Our thoughts are with you - it is so hard to lose one of our fur-babies!
Sorry about your baby. Nothing wrong with wanting another one to love and care for, it would be an honor for you to want another one. There are always lots of rescues, that need great and loving homes.
First of all, thank you for having Tabytha for 10 years. It's just never long enough, is it? I lost my first dachsie over 30 years ago, and it still left a void in my heart, even though I have given it to Heidi, Gretl, Siglen, Sorcha, and now Brekke. It is good to get another and make new memories, and do, please share pictures of Tabytha, stories, and funny moments as you are able. There are many precious dachsies in rescue who would fill that dachsieless spot in your home...
My tears fall right alongside yours. What a sad time. Please come and meet our group when you feel like it. I know you'll find comfort sharing stories about your Tabytha.
