Well i went to meet her today. She is very cute and very mellow, but i am sure that is due to her tramatic experience. Also, the breeder told me to today that she also has a hernia on her belly that would need to fixed when she was spayed. Not sure about possible future health issues with her, i decide to call my vets office and explain the situation about the tracea wound and the hernia. They said it would cost an addittional 3-4 hundred dollars to do the spay and surgery and the tech that i talked to said under the circumstances if it were her, she would probably not buy the puppy because you just don't know what kind of damage was done during the biting incident. The pup i was told today was also "out for a little while after she got bit. There are jsut too many questions and concerns with this puppy, so i don't think that i am going to purchase her. Also, the breeder told me when i was there today that she didn't think she wanted to sell her to me because she didn't see or feel that "Wow" from me with the puppy. I did get to meet her other babies and adult doxies too. They are all very likeable and friendly and one adult doxie named "Yogi" seemed to take to me very well. He was licking me and all over me! He was a "Hoot"! He is actually one of her adult doxies that she is selling because she said that he is too big for her females. He is 1 1/2 years old. I really liked him, and definently would consider bringing him home. Although, there again, not sure how two male dogs would get along and being that my "Max" is 4 years old. And actually Yogi is a little bigger than Max. Not sure if i would have better luck trying to find a puppy or adopt an older dog????HEEEELP! How much should a person expect to pay for an older dog???
Thanks!
Kim

Is Max neutered? Is Yogi neutered yet? It could work - still introduce them on neutral territory. Most adults run around $150-$225, from what I have seen.
A pup with existing conditions is a difficult matter you just never know waht all may be wrong with them down the road plus vet cost are rising seems like every time you turn around. As for dog & puppy prices thay are all over the place $100.00- to $5,000.00 depending on lines, show & pet quaility. If you did not click it is better to keep looking you will know when the right one comes along. Sometimes males will mark & fight each other always best to go with male -female but their have been sucessful male- male house holds just depends on the dogs.

Yes, Max is neutered but not sure about yogi. I am sure she will require him to be fixed before he goes to new home though.
If she's a good breeder, she would require neutering either before or on a contract before she'll sell him, unless you have a contract and plan to breed him (we hope not - we are heavily pro-rescue here!). Even after they meet, they should still be supervised and Yogi should be crated otherwise, just to make sure they make peace and decide who's boss. I know people with two and three males - it all depends on the dogs, as with two, three, or four females, as I have done. Good luck! :xfinger:
I had two male dachshunds together for over twelve years. I actually got Rudy as a puppy, and then brought in Max, who was 4. It took them time to sort out their pack order, and there were occasional squabbles. I've found, though, that two males usually do tend to get along. Size really doesn't have anything to do with who is alpha, although if two dogs have equal temperament, the one that has the physical advantage will prevail. It really is within the disposition of the dog itself that decides they are an "alpha" or not. If your Max is an alpha and Yogi isn't, they will fall into line easily, and vice versa. If both have alpha personalities, one will eventually prevail, and it's really up to them to sort it out amongst themselves...but both need to know when push comes to shove YOU are the pack leader.
Yes to what allt he others have said, and even if Yogi is desexed it is not instantanious it takes a few weeks for the hormones to lower in levels. We had two males for a while and they got on well, and as David said YOU are the head honcho as these guys walk all over the uninitiated. Both the two we have at present we got as older "wee ones" for want of another term. Amy(18 months when we got her) was our Pups mum, who died at 8 months, and the breeder did not want to take the chance again and we just wanted part of Ingrid, but that is another story and Oliver who the breeder took back 9(at 14 months) as his first family said they were leaving the country. They take time and patience to let them love and trust you and if they are from a breeder teaching them what the inside of a home is. Size as the others said is nothing our alpha lording it over two males was a pint sized female who lived till 16 Emma aka The divine Ms Em.
Good Luck and if you decide to go get Yogi love both and enjoy them.
Roberta owned by Amy and OLiver and watched over by Emma Angus and Ingrid.
