:bandaid: Sgt has a spot on his back hip that he has been messing with for a few days. It is the size of a nickel now. It is raised up and looked like a mosquito bite. He has been biting at it and now it is an open sore. Does anyone know what I can put on it to help it get better and stop him from biting at it? Thanks for any help. :bandaid:
I would definitely take him to the vet, who knows if it is just a mosquito bite or if it is more serious like the spider bites of recent. :dontknow: Better safe than sorry. :ambulance:
To the vet he goes!!! ASAP! If its a spider bite you don't want to waste any time.
Let us know what the doc says.
Ouchie Sgt.......I agree - it should be looked at....just to be safe - let us know !
I agree with the others. A looksee by the doc is in order here. Sending healing rays to Sgt.
We hope you feel better soooooooooon little buddy!Let us know how you're doing ok.Tell Momma Julie our Momma Kelly says Hello!
I called my aunt who is a vet (who lives an hour away) and she told me to put a mixture of Neosporin and benadryl cream on it (just a little of each) a couple of times a day. If it still looks the same tomorrow, I am supposed to take him to my local vet. Since it has been 4 days now since it started, he should be ok. If it does not look any better tomorrow, then it may be getting infected and he might need something else. So I am going to hold off and see how it looks tomorrow. If it doesn't look any better, then off to the vets he goes. :ambulance:
We have had this happen to a couple of puppers lately:( I don't what it is but it seems to heal up and go away.
It wouldn't be a botfly would it? Has he been out playing in the yard or off leash recently?
I don't know what a botfly is. He plays in the yard all the time, so I am sure he was stung by something out there. It looks better today, at least the sore part does. It is still swollen in that spot, about the size of a nickel and sticks out about 1/8 of an inch. I am goign to watch it for a couple more days.
Botflies are gross to be honest. But I was asking because the eggs/larvae can get under the skin and they form a lump then come out when they are more mature. If you've ever seen a lumpy squirrel it's probably from botflies. If it seems to keep growing then it *could* be something like that, while not really harmful to the animal, they are gross and uncomfortable.
As everyone has said I would take him to the vet ASAP. You just never know and it is so much better to be safer than sorry later.
