Title: My name is NOT
Post by: Mike on May 17, 2007, 09:52:23 PM
Chester.  But that's what dad is calling me.  I have a limp on the front right leg but the vet said there was no grinding in the shoulder and he twisted my head all over!!!  Thought my head was gonna pop off, but I just let him do.  Dad was impressed by my behavior.  But I have to take some doggie aspirins for a few days to see if they help my limp go away.  Dad is playing the martyr and says we're gonna camp on the living room floor tonight.

It seems Clifford's shoulder is being aggravated by going down the 2 steps to the yard or hopping out of bed (frame sits on the floor and is same height as 1 step).  Rays would be appreciated.

Awwww Clifford...I am sorry you are hurting - I can sympathize - I have been down in my back all week....its h*ll getting old - isn't it?  Sure hope the aspirin helps.....and let daddy play the martyr - he loves you that much.  Sending rays in full force !!!  Tell dad, he could make a couple easy ramps by using wood wrapped in inexpensive carpet.  Even a short one might help the step off the bed.

Take care of you and let us know how you are doing !

Rays coming to Clifford! :sunny:  I hope he feels better.  Mike, what a good dad you are to sleep on the floor with him.  Hopefully after a night on the floor, you won't need a couple aspirins yourself.

We are feeling better.  Yes, Leslie, the vet checked out his toes and even got a little LED light to see better.  I think it is related to going DOWN steps.  Even just 1 or 2 (which is all I have) jars his shoulders.  He good about waiting if I tell him I'll help him (or just grab him before he can get a head of steam up out the door).

Thanks for the rays (I borrowed some for my back on Saturday).

Oh boy sounds like you and "Chester" have both had a time! I hope you are both feeling much better now. Scary stuff!

*she says as she pictures the two steps Hallie goes down coming out of the garage*

Feel better soon Clifford! Take good care of your Dad too so he can keep taking such good care of you.

Eek!  Rays heading east for both of you.  Mr. C - take it easy on your dad - he is probably feeling the strain of sleeping on the floor - it's not easy for hooparents when we have several decades behind us!

HEY!!  I prefer to look at it as I'm not yet half-way through this journey.  My crabby grandma lived to 104.

Thanks for the rays.  I feel this will be ongoing for Clifford and I need to construct ramps to the outside.

I feel this will be ongoing for Clifford and I need to construct ramps to the outside.

Just so you know - I constructed a 12 foot long ramp with sides for Dr. Leaky to get up an down into the doggie yard from the special doggie deck.  Which is why half the time he "waddle butts" his way up the deck stairs!  I hope as he gets older and the stairs get harder, he will stop using them.

When I first put the ramp up I had to block off the stairs so everyone would figure out how to use the ramp.  It is not quite wide enough to pass each other, so there was often a traffic jam.

Guinness used to go to the first stair, jump up, clamp his front paws on the side of the ramp and hoist himself over.  One time he was balanced on the side and almost over it when Dr. Leaky came barrelling past, and knocked poor Guinness off!  Now THAT was funny! :2funny:
