Yes he was and I was weel nice to him. Dis is Maddewoo and the kitty Sylvester came up on my porch tonight. Mommy and papa chaperoned our "date" and I was vewwy ladylike and didn't even twy to chase Sylvester off MY porch. He eben wubbed on me and I didn't do anything. When I meet utter doggies, I sometimes have my tail weel low but wiff dis black and white kitty, my tail actually wags and there's NO hair standing up on my back. And then the big test. Mommy and papa invited the kitty into MY house. I was fairly cordial but papa did talk about making me wear a yeash at first until I'm used to the kitty. Do you doggers who have kitties have to wear a yeash too, when da kitty is in da house? I think I might like dis kitty. Is dere sumptin wong wiff me?

Sandi here. I am AMAZED how well those two get along, but I'm still nervous. I'd hate for Maddie to suddenly make a fast lunge or for Syvester to make a swipe. Sylvester has his own dachsie at his home, but he loves to hang around our porch. Tonight, he invited himself inside.....with a little encouragement. Do ya'll think it might be a good idea to have a leash on Maddie......just in case?

Sandi, I have five cats along with my two doxies and australian shepherd...I can only tell you that whenever I have brought another cat into the house, usually the dogs are not the ones who react to the "newbie" as much as my cats do!! Every once in awhile the dogs will chase the cats thru the house a bit but normally they get along really well.....I never did put a leash on my pups when the cats were brought in. I don't think it would be necessary to put a leash on Maddie if they seemed to get along quite well.
My mothers cat Harry, parades inform of the dining room window when we go up, Saying "fur faces come get me :nana: :nana: :nana: :nana:" he weighs in at about 10 kilos and is bigger than Amy so no way am I going let them out. Emma once chased him whn he was young so he is not into small dogs, adores my namesakeRobbie an border collie.
