Hello all you Doxie friends! I know...I haven't been around much. Life is moving at about light speed some days! lol
Katie is going to be 11 months old next Sunday! She's a big girl now! I will be sure to add a recent picture of her to this post. She has SO much energy that part of my day is spent trying to tire her out w/ walks and such. She is turning out to be the petite Golden girl that I hoped she would be! Only about 23" tall and around 50 lbs.
Mom and her doxie baby, Buddy are doing real well. They have been a team for 8 months now and every morning she fills me in on all the funny things he does. He turn 1 on April 4th!! He's a sweet funny lil boy and he's always SO happy to see me. I'm the ONLY one he is happy to see. Still doesn't like my brother, Phil or my son, Greg! Mom just sticks him in the master bathroom when they are around. He used to go out and poop where they had been standing but that doesn't happen anymore, thank goodness!!
Well, that's about it from here...hope all the doxie's are doing well and have weathered this food recall thing safely.
Hi Kathy! Glad to hear things are going well. Katie sure is a pretty girl, and Buddy is a cutie pie too! Belly rubs to both of them. Good to see you on the board again. :thumb:
Thanks Beth! Belly rubs have been given to Katie from you!!
Buddy looks like someone who has found his person in life, and your mum looks happy with him. Your BIG little girl is gorgeous, I have always a soft spot for goldies, hence long hairs. The guys have a freind up the road Milly who is an oldie goldie, and taught Amy not all big dogs are out to get you.
roberta
Thanks Roberta! Yes...Buddy and Mom were meant to be together!!
So whereabouts do you live 'down under'??? I have a Golden friend, Joanne, who lives in Tamworth. She is coming to visit me in '09!
Joanne has two Goldens and does foster care for Coolies.
Katie is beautiful!!! And I love the picture of your mom and Buddy. I'm glad they have each other, you can see how bonded they are. Willy and Alex are 9 years old now and I STILL can't wear those two out. They love being outside, so we go for our walk around the neighborhood, then they get some off-leash time on our 40 acres, but those two still go sit at the back door with this look on their faces that say "mom....can we go out?" They are good boys, I love them so much.
Its good to see you posting again!
Thanks Patty! I think of you all often but have little computer time.
It was beautiful again here today so I was outside cleaning out a small garden area and had Katie out w/ me. Well, that is until she made it clear she had to be right in the middle of every single thing I did! I know she loves me and I love her......but trying to pull grass and weeds w/ a Golden attached to your hip is a challenge at best! lol Silly puppy! I'd pull grass and she had to eat it...so inside she went while I finished that up and got everything put away. Then I let her back out and she helped me water all the plants......she doesn't seem to like being sprayed w/ the hose like the majority of Goldens, she runs from it. We'll be introducing her to the lake soon. It's only 2 miles from here and it's time to go get the property cleaned up after the winter so we can use it this summer for bbq's and such. I hope Katie will love swimming even though she hates baths and the hose. Believe me...when it's bath time I REALLY wish she was the size of your puppers! It is NOT fun!
I'm quite tickled at how much Mom loves Buddy and he loves her! It's quite precious. He is so blessed to have been rescued from his sad circumstances. I imagine that Gunny the Bulldog would really be terrorizing him now! :nana:
That is so funny about Katie and the water. Hopefully the lake will be different. How are the grandkids adjusting to their move? I hope they all have settled in and made lots of new friends.
Yes, considering that many...most...of Katie's friends and siblings LOVE the hose, sprinkler and bath it's kind of strange! Hopin' the lake will be different!
It seems my little family in Idaho is doing fine...but then I doubt I would be told different! lol The kids haven't made many new friends but that is what happens when you live in a new place and are home schooled. PLEASE, don't get me started on this one!! :cussing:
aw she is lovely i am trying to get a short haired black and tan myslef i am trying to be patient and wait for one to come up in a local home i want to rescue one
Ahem. Miss Katie appears very lovely, but those legs, they're so, ah, how can I put it, LONG.
Have you looked into surgery for her. With an adjustment of a few inches, she would make a ravishing standard long-haired dachshund. And of course, being a doxie is the culmination of every dogs fantasy.

I could just SEE that! lol Thanks for the good laugh Karen! I have a very soft spot in my heart for doxie's as up until '04 we were owned by a beautiful red long hair named Piddleman!
I'm glad things finally worked out for Buddy he is a cute little guy.Your Mom looks happy too. Katie sure has grown! LOL Karen, Katie would make one big doxie, I wonder if they have "super standard" size...
Guess I could start a new thing, huh? Katie the first 'Super Standard' Gold Longhaired Dachshund! Shhhh...don't tell my Golden friends I said that! lol
Yes, Mom and Buddy are VERY happy...she has to put him in his place now and again when he starts thinking HE is the Alpha. But it only takes one reprimand and he slinks off w/ his head down. He is a sweet little boy!
