The Madderoo appears to be a bit under the weather. I'm guessing that she tried to go up the back steps and missed (she's my superstitious dawg and always skipped the second to last step coming up),, running her chest into the step. Now she's a bit on the stiff side and subdued. I'm really hoping and watching that it's just a bruised chest and not a back thing. I've been lifting her wherever she wants to travel but she seems to prefer mostly to rest on the couch or futon or wherever I am. She did yelp when I picked her up but then I changed my position and didn't touch her chest and she didn't object. Hoping she feels a little better later today and tomorrow and that this is nothing serious.
Rays on the way to Maddie from us here in MI.
:bandaid: Get Well Soon :bandaid:
Hope she feels better soon! :xfinger:
Thank you for all your rays to my Madderoo. Our Madison seems to have turned into an old lady (she's 7...8 in Nov) overnight. Either that, or she's milking her Princess privileges. She now balks at going up or down steps (we carry her). She has her papa or myself place her on the couch and is just not the bouncy pouncy Madderoo we know. Mark said this is "GOOD" because she shouldn't be bouncing down steps or jumping on the couch. Nothing seems real wrong with her. We went on a little walk yesterday and her little feet carred her to her favorite sniffing grounds where she had that needlenose down every gopher hole imaginable. I will be watching to see how she does. If needed, I will call the vet this week for a checkup. Thanks again for your good thoughts.

Sending rays Maddie's way.
I don't want to sound like an alarmist, but in my experience, when a dachsie stops doing an activity that they normally do, regardless of age, it's usually because doing that activity is hurting them (or has the potential to hurt them). The fact that Maddie knows to stop is a good sign. That's very similar to Max's outlook on life. When he's hurt or under the weather, he just curls up into a ball and waits until he feels better. I'd watch her closely. She may have a mildly pinched nerve going on. Pinched nerves are tough to spot. The giveaway with Rudy-angel was that he wouldn't completely shake himself out.
Sandi,
Lots for rays for Maddie coming from her Texas cousins. Hope she is feeling better soon and is just milking this for all she can get. We will keep sending rays and good thoughts for her and even a very for the grub, too (just so she doesn't feel left out). :bandaid:  :comfort:
Rays :sunny: :sunny: :sunny: :sunny: on the way and I too hope that it's just a bruise.
I'd like to thank you all again for all the rays for my Maddie. She is feeling MUCH better!!! She seems to know her limits or knows who to come for to be lifted everywhere (her papa) but maybe that's a good thing. She seems to be back to her ol' self. :hello2: :hello2: :hello2:
and I hope she keeps up feeling more like her usual self too. Rudy sends her kisses!
Sending rays right away.....
