Title: Missy's luxating patella
Post by: Barry on April 28, 2007, 07:50:48 PM
We were going to set up surgery for her because she was "skipping" the back leg and we took her to the vet for a final examination before surgery.  The vet felt her back leg and said that it felt fine but he did x-rays to make sure.  He said the x-rays showed nothing.  the leg was fine the back the hips everything.  The vet that checked her last month just did checked her back leg and said that he felt a little movement in her patella, but the x-rays showed nothing.  He said that they don't do surgery on the patella until it is phase 3 or 4 and that Missy has no signs of anything.  the problem is she still skips and favors her leg at times, the vet said she may have pulled a muscle.  Anyone else have this problem?  I am glad she x-rayed fine but she still has some problems.  Missy is 2 years old and has always had a skip in her back leg with no visible pain until recently.

I am sorry that Missy is having pain in her leg.
Cookie has always skipped on one back leg ever since we got her, but the vet never said anything bad about it.  It never bothered her so we haven't said anything- we thought it was the funny way she walked.  :thinik:
Hope Missy feels better soon!

I would not be in a hurry to do surgery Gizmo knee has slipped out many times over her 14 years i just rub it gentle till it slides back into place.Does not seem to be painful to her she just runs on three legs for a little while then she is fine.If it were to stay out a long time then i would do something about it.
