Title: Today we did the horse show.
Post by: Dee Dee and Hallie on April 27, 2007, 09:46:02 PM
Mom went to take pictures of the horsies and I went along to help!

That judge is blind! Clearly, horse #138 has a much better angle to his shoulder than horse #263.

Then we went on the rides! Mom says it's best to do that BEFORE we eat....I am not sure why?

Hey where is the ticket guy I want my turn!

Those are great!  I love the ones of her next to the giant sausages.  Like Roberta said, it's a sausage dog next to the sausages!

I love it!  The ones with the giant sausages are so funny! How could you not take a picture of a weiner dog with a big sausage though?

Absolutely too precious!  Brekke wants to know: "If you did the horse show, where are the tall dachsies, anyway?"

I snorted at the picture where Hallie is looking for the ticket guy.  It really looks like she wanted to go on that ride.  And the Sausage amongst the sausage..... :2funny:  Hallie, your mommy's talents never cease to amaze me.

Roberta what I was into was the hamburger and french fries the dudes next to us had just sat down with. See my lil tongue stickin' out? Before that I was laying on Mom's lap just watchin...

Barb I am still tryin' to find someone to get me a pony for my birthday! (Mom says I want a BIG black one called a "Friesian")  :thumb:

Beth, Mom said now there is a wiener dog photo op just WAITING to happen...how could we not. Hee.

Jen, I bet I could get two of 'em down without taking a rest. (I'd sure like the chance to try! Unless those darn things have been recalled too! :cussing:)

Exactly Valerie, LOL too bad we couldn't have rode the float...wherever it was it went!

Brekke tell your Mom the tall doxies are there...across the arena see 'em? Mom took a billion kazillion of them but with her huge camera she brings for such things. These piccies of me were with her brand new teeny tiny point and shoot, she can slip it into her back pocket! She got it 2 days ago because she wanted something smaller and easier to carry with us places where she can't bring her big gear. So look out even more pics of me and VIDEO TOO (as soon as she figures out how to do that).

Sandy it is the wierdest feeling to hold up that tiny camera to take a shot. I'm used to needing something on wheels to haul my cameras and big lenses around! This little guy is like a pack of cards and the pic quality isn't too bad considering.

Dear Auntie DD:
My momma sez she can see the tall dachsies, but I can't.  I thought there was gonna be at least one piccy of them...

Dee Dee, did you get one of the Canon Elphs? I know they are small like that and really do some great pics.
I ended up getting Meghan a Fuji S700 for graduation. It is 7.2 mp, 10X optical zoom and she can learn to do some manual stuff, yet still have the advantage of the camera being automatic. Fuji just came out with it in April, and since their customer service was so great with my camera (I have it back now) I decided to go with it. I've been really good, too. It's been at the house since last Wednesday and I haven't played with it at all. It is KILLING me, but I'm trying hard to let her get at it first!
I'm still debating on whether to take the plunge and get a digital SLR for myself. With Meg out of school, I can really start thinking about it now....

Teresa TAKE THE PLUNGE. You will never go back. :) Do you know what SLR you would want? (and then there are all those tempting lenses!)The Fuji sounds like a great little camera! I just got a canon SD800 IS. I was going to get something with more zoom, etc but I really only need this for candid Hallie shots and video. I have the reach and other things I need with my regular gear. I am pleasantly surprised at the optics on this little one. It's a 7.1 MP, 3X. I LOVE being able to hold it in one hand rather than needing a monopod and several hours of bicep work at the gym to hoist it around.

Thank you Terri, Hallie sez posing = treats and many kisses so it must be a good thing!

Brekk here:  Ooh - I never saw a tall white dachsie before!  And I can't figure out why Momma just snorted so loud, either!   Mocha sez to tell you that her mama is fine, just bruised - a lot.

I am hoping to go up and take some photos of him running at liberty in a pasture and just so you don't get confused like the last guy I told this to, I am talking about the HORSE.  :thumb:

I'm glad your Mom is ok Mocha that had to hurt like a hummer!! Still can't believe that owner didn't come over to help!

Love the White horse. The guy ain't too bad either!
I'm thinking about either the Canon or Nikon. A lot of people in the classes I've taken have the Canons and love them. One thing I want to do is get something where I can also get a film SLR (used) and interchange the lenses. That way I can still enjoy the darkroom if I want to and not have to invest very much in the camera. Film cameras are everywhere right now for a reasonable price. If I can use the lenses on both, I would come out okay. I'm going to do some looking over the next couple of months and see what I come up with. I took a morning class on Saturday on taking B&W portraits using outdoor light. It was great fun. Hope to use some of what I learn at graduation this weekend.

People are funny about their camera gear, Canon vs Nikon vs whatever is like Ford vs Chevy, or Mac vs PC, to many, each side thinks theirs is the only good one and the other sucks. LOL. I just happened to start with canon. If I had started with Nikon I'm sure I'd love it too. The two seem to surge ahead of the other in different areas every few years. They are both excellent.

Since you enjoy the dark room I think a camera with interchangable lenses is a great idea. I have not looked into that so don't know the pros and cons, if the optics would be as good, AF, etc..but I would think it would all be very comparable! Yes I'm sure you can find a decently priced film camera for sure! Graduation is this weekend? Have fun! Take lots of pics!

Yes I still love my SLR I have an Olympus OM4 Ti my baby plus lenses. My first OM2 died on me and I had it for 10years and I bought it second ahnd. I figured if someone spent that sotr of money in the first place they probably took care of it. Thing I hate about digital is the time lapse of press and when the shutter goes. Your new camera sounds good Dee, my Olympus is now getting on, but its really only for pickie of the guys for the net and needlework for the net.
LOL Dee I could picture that guys prancing about a paddock.............

I hated my first digital too Roberta the dog would be out of the frame before the shutter went off!  :cussing: I don't know how this new little camera does with action but I don't need it to really, my camera that I use for action (the MKII) does 8.5 frames per second, and the new MKIII that is coming out in about a month does 10 fps. There is no lag at all with the MKII (it is the top sports camera out there) or my other one, the 20D although it only does 3 fps I believe, I don't use it for action much either. They have come a long way with digitial although they still have a ways to go in some areas.

Your Olympus is great for the quilt and puppy pics Roberta! The quality looks excellent! 10 yrs is a long time to have had a camera especially second hand.
