My MIL is downsizing and moving in about 8 weeks. She has had my SIL's kitty living with her because SIL's kids are allergic. Kitty is about 10 or 11 and in pretty good health. But MIL did not want to take kitty to new home (with new carpets) and could not be bothered with finding it a new home so she had it put down!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
:cussing:
OMG!!! I can't believe that! Why on earth would somone do that to an animal. People like that make me so livid!
OH NO! I would be furious about that. I've been angry with my FIL (and MIL too) because of things they've done with respect to animals so I understand. I've answered the phone when they've called and just handed it to David because I couldn't talk to them or it would be bad. I would suggest you avoid them for quite a while and make sure they know why you are not around them, either through your hubby or telling them yourself. At least then they will be unlikely to mention it or anything.
Ya know, speaking my mind here would not have brought kitty back to life. And I think MIL has her head up her a** on a lot of issues but I keep the peace for my husband.
BUT that being said, in our wills, if I die, and then DH dies, the estate is split between our collective parents. If DH dies first, and then I die, the estate goes 1/2 to my parents and 1/2 to the Humane Society. MIL sees not one dime because she's so stoooopid. (I could go on and on and on and we're talking about a DEGREED PROFESSIONAL medical provider.)
:angry7:
That is outright murder! That poor sweet little soul. To throw something away because you can't find time to find it another home should be criminal. Must be awfully hard to deal with a MIL like that! When my cousins aunt died suddenly the family was going to put her kitty Sophie down because she was 16 yrs old and no one wanted her. So I took her and she lived another 4 years to 20. I can't imagine that sweet baby having been killed just because no one wanted her.
A close relative of mine did that to her two dogs. Kevin and I were so upset. We didn't understand why she didn't talk to us, we would have taken them or gotten them in to rescue. It took me a couple of years before the seething stopped. We have a cordial relationship now, but I will never feel the same way about her again. I still feel shame and disappointment that someone I love would do such a terrible thing. In this case, it was one of my blood relations, so I could speak my mind. For weeks afterwards, I would call her murderrer when she called me.
Although they are not perfect, not one of my inlaws would ever do that to a pet. More than once have always taken in pets in need when older relatives were no longer able to care for them. And the older ones didn't get rid of them for convenience sake either, they honestly couldn't keep them. All of Kevin's family's pet have been rescues. When it comes to animals. there are no better people.
:mumum: Oh, God, that is horrible that she did that. I am even more shocked that a vet would even put an animal down for such a lame reason.
My FIL was really rude to us when my DH told him that Cookie's back went out and she went in for surgery. He actually said to my DH, "Too bad you don't have a gun and a backyard so you could take her out back and shoot her and saved some money". :angry4: I am not kidding- word for word her said that. My Dh said "That was completely innapropriate and hung up on him".
No wonder Cookie didn't like him and growled at him when he came to visit last December.
I'm surprised that wherever she took the kitty to that they did not call a cat rescue. Let her know she will get old to--what if no one wants her....Where will she go?
All I can say, with all due respect, Leslie, MIL is an :idiot: Oh, this makes my :cussing: A ejumakated professional too. Oh my!
I personally am at a loss for words.....so I will let these little icons show how I feel :cussing: :cussing: :cussing:
