Title: Allergies!
Post by: Jenny G on April 25, 2007, 07:43:35 AM
This crazy Oklahoma weather has sent Lucy and myself over the edge!  Poor Lucy has been sneezing and hacking for 3 days now!  I've been giving her children's benedryl - just 1 per day.  How many can I give her in 1 day? I'd like to give her 1 in the morning and 1 in the evening if it's safe.

I washed all of their bedding and the rugs last night and swept and vacuumed real good. Hopefully that'll help a little too!

We had some warming weather in San Diego (and a few days of rain) and my allergies have been going nuts for a couple of weeks now. Poor Drew says I drive him nuts some nights because I am so congested and my breathing is so eratic! I feel for you guys!

I give Buelah one in the morning (children's strength) and one in the evening if she is having allergy issues.  Her eyes tend to get really yucky and I do think it helps.  Good luck!

The problem I was told is you have to  rotate antihistamines in dogs, wen Angel Emma was alive and was real bad we had three at we ccled ina three week roster.
Surfave allergies I read to-day o can use aloe vera on them as it is non toxic.

Katie's vet says to give one benedryl (regular...she's a big dog!) per 25 lbs. But I'm not sure about the kids benedryl...hmmmm

The dosage of benadryl is 1mg/pound with a maximum dose of 50 mg.  It doesn't matter if it's the liquid kind or the pills if you just remember that.  I honestly don't know about other drugs since I've never had to use them for my dogs.
