Title: My latest painting
Post by: Dee Dee and Hallie on April 17, 2007, 03:09:19 AM
Although this is a commission, I finally got to paint a horse from my own photos in a scene I got to make up myself. The person I painted it for said I could do any horse I wanted with a flowing mane and tail. So I did this guy and just finished it a few minutes ago. Not a dachshund yet but each painting I say gets me closer to being able to do another one!  :thumb:

How fair is it that someone gets all the looks, personality and TALENT???

Thank you for sharing this with us.  It is just beautiful.  I like the composition, it is so dramatic and sensual!

Another crowning achievement!  You go, girl.

Wow, a horse, the beach, seagulls - only a short-legged dachsie would make it any better!  Brekke has always been of the opinion that horses are tall dachsies in disguise... very marvelous!

Wow! I think the best word to describe it is Barb and Patty's 'stunning.' It is just so foreign to me that a human being could do this!  Stick people and simple A frame houses - that's more what I'm used to. Wonderful job, DD!  :apls:

ROTFL. This one laid me out flat Les. You haven't seen me in person have you LOL!!! (but you are very sweet :))

Delia you watched over my shoulder a lot on this one even though you didn't know it since we were on the phone and luckily for you....couldn't see it! (I say lucky because I obsess over every detail so much I would have been grilling you for your opinion on every little thing lol.)

Mike this is my favorite breed, a Friesian (Hallie wants one for Christmas!). My cousin has one and we took him to the beach this fall along with an Andalusian mare. Although this isn't him, I used his reflections and the water and splashes, etc for this. The horse itself is a young stallion that belongs to a friend of mine who performs with several stallions, Friesian, Andalusian and Azteca. I got to ride this one which was a thrill and a half! He doesn't have this long of mane or tail (yet) so I gave him extensions in the painting. I also moved his legs a bit to add a little more drama.

I am shipping it to Canada this week to the people who commissioned it,  I wish I could keep this one I really need some originals on hand for shows and things, everything goes out the door so I don't have anything to exhibit with. That's my goal for this year though.
