Teresa,
How is Miss Molly doing? Dee
Thanks for asking. She is much better. I have decided to hand deliver the letter to the vet. Randy has to take Molly back on Saturday and will do so then. He finally got all the loose fur and dried fluid off last night and it looks much better. We can finally see exactly where it was cut or irritated. It actually looks like it was cut by the harness now, more than rubbed by it. I'll try to get new pictures of her tomorrow and then I'll post the ones I took a couple of days after we picked them up and the latest ones. I still can't quite figure out how the harness did it unless she was rubbing against something, or one idea i've just had is this-Molly will often get on her back and rub back and forth on the floor since this is the only way she can really scratch her back thanks to her stocky bulldog build and short bulldog legs. If she tried doing that with the harness on and it moved back and forth across the front, it very easily could have cut into her some and would explain the marks it made. I'm still determined to find out an answer and hopefully will be able to do so now that Randy and I can approach it a little more rationally. There was no way we could have done that last week.
On a lighter note-Meghan was home last weekend. I had told her about Molly but she was still amazed at how she looked. The funny part was, the first thing she started doing was calling Molly "Cutthroat". This went on the whole time she was home and it sorta suited her. Oh well, gotta find some humor somewhere.
Teresa, I am glad Molly is doing a little better. Poor girl! I don't blame you guys for being so hot about this, I would be too. There is no reason for her to have gotten that bad unnoticed. Someone needs to be made accountable.
Glad Molly is doing better. I am glad you are both going to see the vet - he needs to know everything that has gone on...... I will be anxious to hear his response -
I'm so glad that she is feeling better! Good for you for pursuing the vet on this - I'll be interested to hear what they say!
Poor Molly Cutthroat! I"m glad she is better too. I am also glad you are persueing this it is still infuriating! I never even let vets take my dog to the back without me anymore, I once had a vet who wouldn't let me go back with my Dane Fred, who was so sick and weak at the time, I sent him back with his thick comforters to lay on in the kennel since there was no way he could lay on the concrete and he couldn't stand for very long he was so weak. Two hours later the vet took me back to see him and there he stood in the bare kennel wobbling and exhausted with his big pile of blankies in the aisle outside the kennel in front of him. I was absolutely incensed. You'd think vet help would be competent but not always the case. I don't trust anyone anymore. :cussing: I have lots of similar stories with friends dogs, just plain stupid things that happen at the vets. (for instance a friends golden had surgery and had the E Collar on and she had drooled, the drool got into her fur all down her throat and burned a huge area, she lost all her hair in the front and her skin was bright red and raw and sore...it took a lot to clear that up)
Your theory of what happened sounds very possible, (the thought of Molly rolling and smiling on her bulldog back paints a cute picture though!!). I hope they will at least acknowledge what happened and take steps to not let it happen to another dog. Keep us posted.
I really glad you're pursuing this. The least it will do is bring it to the vet's attention. The most it will do is assure others that something similar won't happen again. Glad Molly Cutthroat is feeling better. \
I'm with you, DD. A great picture. Maybe you need to borrow Molly as your next model.
Its great news that Molly is doing better. How awful, poor darling. I'm glad you are bringing it to the vet's attention. They definately need to be aware and take care of this problem immediately!! Hopefully the neglectful staff will be punished for this. Keep us posted.
I will keep everyone posted. It will have to be Monday now before she goes in since it turns out the vet we want to see (the one who usually sees Molly and who owns the practice and the pet hotel) isn't going to be in today after all.
Dee Dee, I will try to get a picture of Molly soon doing her back scratching manuever. It is so funny. It took us a couple of times of watching her when we first got her to figure out what she was trying to do. Our first Bulldog never did this. We always thought Molly wanted us to give her belly rubs. Those are fine, too, but she really just loves scratching her back this way!
