Title: Happy Birthday Weiner Writings!
Post by: David C. on April 06, 2007, 11:18:22 AM
On April 1, 1998, the Weiner Writings board came online for the first time.  It was started by Chris Mak as an offshoot of the Dachshund Circus E-mail list (and before that the Dachshund Circus BBS).    Eventually the WW Board became a separate entity from the original Dachshund Circus, but some folks still keep in touch with both.   I wasn't here at the very beginning...we didn't join up until late September of 1998.  I'm pretty sure Patti goes almost the entire way back, though as Willy & Alex were part of that notable Puppy Class of '98, along with Mickey and Andy Rooney, Jadzia & Dax,  Stevie and Clapton (notice they are in pairs!) and many others.

Thanks for nine years of friendships and memories WW Board!  Wishing the WW board many, many more happy, an occasionally zany years

Happy Birthday to all our cohorts in Wienerdom.  Clifford and I joined up in November of 2000.  I found this great place while looking for information on better dog food after his 1st back surgery.

That's amazing, I came on the February after I lost Jessie (in November) but not sure now what year it was. I just know it was a looong time ago!

I remember posting for the first time in the fall of 1998, I posted a poem I wrote for Hasen, my second doxie, a wheaton wire.  I posted the poem on the first anniversary of his death.  The poem was called ALL I WANT.

Happy barkday, wienerwritings!  I think I first came on board in January or February of 2000, because I remember that Patty invited me to join chat shortly after I posted that I thought "You mean there are other kinds of dogs?", when I first signed the guestbook.  I only had Heidi, Gretl, and Siglen then.  Heidi was 13, Gretl was 10, and Siglen was 4 at that time.

Happy Birthday, WW!  I think I first logged on a few months before we got Berman in 2003.  The folks on the board helped answer many many questions and calmed my anxieties of being a new dachsie mom!  The board was my rock when Annie got sick and eventually passed to the bridge.  And they were all very encouraging when we were looking into adopting Lucy from the DRNA.  I even got a couple of folks to provide referrals to the DRNA to futher pad our rescue application!  Thank you! Thank you! Thank you to this wonderful board and the amazing people and puppers!  I would be an asbolute mess without you!

I would have never been able to handle the loss of Harry, Misty and Domingo if it wasn't for the terrific support I got from the people on this board.

I think we joined in the Dachshund Circus board in 1999 shortly after we got Stormy and followed it when it became wiener writings. Hard to believe that 8 years have passed since then.

Wienerwritings was THE VERY FIRST site I found when I discovered the internet.  I think it was in 1998.  This has been been my home base since.  I remember the first ones to welcome me, included Patty, Delia, Adela, Yolanda, Maria, Eleanor and many others.  I especially remember DD and her extreme kindess in helping me to learn the ropes of cyber boards and chatrooms.  I remember being absolutely addicted to Saturday night Chats and being amazed that you could talk with people so far away without using the telephone.  Thank you all for being there for me in good times and sad times.  We all have been through quite a bit, haven't we?

Gosh! It seems like the internet itself has been around forever, let alone WW!!!

I'm thinking DD has been around longer than 2000. When was the first Bow Wow at her house? I know I had both my girls (and Nugget-Angel) and both Gretch and Ilsa were born in '99. Was it in '98? I'm know Gretch and Ilsa were already around because I remember taking a tape of them running around the house. AND...Krista was there with Chloe (Ilsa's littermate).

The first time I talked to her on the phone was August of '99 - the day I lost Heidi-Angel. I remember feeling kind of weird calling someone I had never met in person, but she had given me her phone # and Ron had jury duty that day. Nugget and I piled on the bed (after I had let Heidi go) and I dialed her # and the rest is history.

I'm guessing I've been around since summer of '99.

Sandi, I remember you came right after I did. Wow! Time sure does fly, doesn't it? I so wish I had made it to the second bow-wow and seen everyone again! I missed you under the influence of Adela's Lemon Drops!!!!

I think it's even before that!  I discovered the Old board towards the end of 1998 - just after I got Simson and Jessie and that's when I met DD, Patty, Maria from San Diego and I still remember Otto, the gardener wienie boy!
