Thanks for all the information everyone....and the kind words for my baby girl!
Turns out that the lump on her neck was pretty much unrelated to the ear infections/allergy and the eye infection/ allergy. It was an infection/abcess from something that either bit her (spider?) or stuck her (any number of trees, shrubs, etc. that she feels it necessary to play in). Her immune system was out of whack from the eyes and ears which is probably why the bite/pricker stick became infected. He had to drain the abcess and flush it and now I have to actually put the antibiotic ointment INTO the tiny hole. GROSS! Fortunately she has been an angel through all of this. Dr. M. likened the abcess to having a seriously bad toothache. Given that, I am sure that she is feeling much better.
We are going to discuss her allergies and how to control them when she goes for her follow up next week. In the meantime I am trying to find out as much as I can about allergies in dogs. So again....thanks for the information everyone!
Awwww rays to Buelah..... She should heal up quickly now that that nasty stuff is out of her !!! Glad you got her in so quickly. You should be able to find tons of info on line about dog allergies...... Keep us posted on how Buelah is doing !
Buelah must be feeling much better now that the nasty abcess has been drained. I hope the vet is able to help with her allergies. My vet was totally stumped by Willy's allergic reaction to anything green. The only thing that helped was this $100 shot that would have had to be given every two weeks. Yikes. But last summer he did pretty well in our woods, I hope this year is as good or better because Willy sure likes being outside.
Glad to hear that Beulah is doing better... How scarey!!! EmmyLou sends her lots of slurpy puppy kisses... :comfort:
I'm glad she is doing better! :apls:
Goodness she sure has been hit from all sides poor little girl. I'll bet she does feel better after the absess was drained. You might want to consider going to a doggie dermatologist if you have one near you at all, Hallie sees one and he seems to know a lot more than the regular vet about skin things.
DeeDee is right when Gizmo was having all her skin problems she saw 3 regular vets I finely took her to a Doggy Dermatologist who put her on a different antibiotic, a different shampoo + the over the counter Clarion how ever it is spelled. Her problem was odd she would get a spot would be shinny in the middle red around the edges, big spots small spots the hair would fall out with a skin tag attached.Looked like a burn no one could figure out what it was no one had seen it before would bathe her twice a week in antibiotic shampoo till we got rid of it now it is trying to come back but I know what to use to get rid of it again.
