I cannot write much, except to say I let my sweet senior boy Ivan go to the Bridge this morning. I was unprepared, but he went peacefully. I have many dogs now, but he was my first, and I will miss him terribly.
Oh Mack - my heart is breaking for you. Your boy was ready and you did the most loving thing for him by letting him go to the Bridge and be whole again. We grieve and cry with you. We are here for you - please know that.
Godspeed sweet Ivan - you will be missed by many.

Oh Mack, I am so terribly sorry. Both you and Ivan have been so blessed to have had each other for so long....but it doesn't make it any easier.
You did the right thing for your sweet boy. Please know that we are all here for you should you need anything at all during this difficult and sad time.
It's so hard when we lose our FIRST. We love them all dearly, but the "first born" is the toughest. Bless you for letting him go peacefully. It's been a very hard weekend. Give all of your menagerie a kiss for me. I type this with tears in my eyes.

It doesn't matter how many others are in the house, they aren't Ivan and they weren't the one who made you fall in love with this breed. I can't imagine all the memories you have with Ivan and how many rescues he saw come through "his" home. What a trooper he was to share his home with them. I'll be thinking of you as you get through this sad time and hope that the wonderful memories make it just a little bit easier.

We are very sorry to hear about Ivan. Having had the opportunity to meet him in person, we know what a kind soul he was. Seeing your three that summer of 2005 helped me deal with the loss of Rudy in June. I know at the time we speculated that you would make a trip "up north" so our seniors, Max and Ivan, could meet each other. Alas, it was not to be...at least not on this plane of existence. I am very certain though that when Ivan made that trip across the Bridge, Max was undoubtedly the first one to welcome Ivan, so that these two members of the "Puppy Class of 1989" could reminisce together.
So sorry to hear about Ivan Mack..my thoughts and prayers are with you

I knew this was coming, but how I wish we didn't have to deal with the loss! I am so sorry for your all-too-soon loss of Ivan. Even though Fritz was my "firstborn" he mostly stayed at my parents' home, so even though I mourned him for over a year, Heidi's loss hit me harder because I expected it for so long after her seizures began, but I was still not ready to have to say good-bye to my first furkid who actually lived with me. Godspeed, Ivan! May you find joy and lots of friends as you journey around the Rainbow Bridge...
So Sorry to hear Ivan went to the bridge today. I am sure that Zeke and Zelda were happy to greet another 1989 puppy class dog along with Max and they will all have a blast together. I am sure Zelda will try to rule the roost with the boys like she did here.

I am so very sorry to hear about the loss of Ivan. Misty and Dolly are showing him around up there, I am sure. Many in our doxie family here know what you are feeling today and we grieve with you.
