I went for a jog yesterday at the park and there was a man there with a little red smooth dachsie. She was probably just 8 or 9 months old. She looked like a tiny version of Lucy! I just had to stop and chat. There was another lady petting the dachsie and as soon as I said I had 2 dachshunds, she said she had 1 too! Do you find yourself just drawn to these little furkids? I mean, there were other dogs at the park and I smiled at them, but none made me stop in my tracks like this little dachsie!
LOL !!! Yup - guilty.... I have stopped my car to pet a dachshund walking in our neighborhood !!!
Are you kidding? I'm NUTZ! I've had Mark stop and back up for 2 blocks to pet a dachsie. I should have a bumper sticker: "I stop for Dachshunds."
Ooh - that's a cute idea for a sticker! I'd have to get a shirt that says that too so I could wear it when I go to the park!
I'm glad I'm not the only one that stops to talk to other Dachshund owners. Not only do I talk to Dachshie owners on here I have alot of friends in Dachshund Rescue of North America as well that I talk too.
Duh funny about that, I've even been known to drive back up the road just for a chat.

I always stop for dachshunds....there are several in my neighborhood....even one living directly across the street from me......and the girl next door has a friend who visits and brings her two long hair babies with her....I JUST LOVE IT!!!
Well, sure! Let me think - my water filtration service guy has a b&t, my furnace/air conditioning installation and service guys have two each - one has b&ts, the other reds, two cashiers at my favorite store have a dachsie apiece - lines too long to have a good conversation about the furkids, and my Barnes and Noble has two cashiers one with a red and one with a b&t, and there are more - those are just the ones I recall at the moment. I have a very old yellow diamond "Dachshund on board" sign...but the bumper sticker sounds so me!
Yep...guilty as charged! If I see one, I've gotta pet him or her.
Oh, yeah. Whenever I've had a bad day (or Beau has eaten another item in the house), I go to www.youtube.com and watch doxies. That always makes me smile. Some of my favorites are:
Penny the Dachshund - has three videos, the little celebrity. :thumb: :thumb: :thumb: :thumb:
Tribute to Fonzie - a total tear-producing love fest to a wonderful-looking rescued senior. :thumb: :thumb: :thumb: :thumb:
Gaucho - If you think Americans like to dress their doxies, you should see this furkid from Brasil dressed in four or five different authentic gaucho outfits. Stunning. :thumb: :thumb: :thumb: :thumb:
I feel good musical - James Brown was born to sing for doxies! :thumb: :thumb: :thumb: :thumb:
Piper and Scooter - An original Slow Jam musical that is just SO well done. :thumb: :thumb: :thumb: :thumb:
That's just a small sampling. So everyone, "Sit!" "Stay!" "Watch!"
Both Drew and I are that way - we always stop and talk to people. We also like to tell them about Wiener Writings and all the great people. I find that I alwasy ask every owner now if they have ever had back problems - I find it really interesting.
All the time. When I ride my bike, I'll pull right over next to them. I've freaked some people out, because in my full cycling regalia, I look something like an alien.
lol i am the same. in my town where i live i would say there is only about 11 dachshunds and i know most of them my dad's neighbour meet my lil boy and she had to go buy one she is called tootsie and she is a dapple she is lovely. then there is timmy my step mother grooms him and he is 14 and he has to get out of the car and walk up himself. a woman i know owns 3 standards and 1 mini she is always out with them. there is also a woman with a little short haired red one and she has to run past the butchers because he goes mental. there is one that look likes bruno but he is a bit nippy if you try and pet him he will snap a bit like bruno lol. and then there is a little doxie that a lady rescued because they were going to get the dog put down because it barked to much and he lives in the garden he won't in come into the house and when dinner time comes around he runs faster than the grey hounds and then my two
We call them doxie sightings!
We were at Yellowstone and a pair came out of a mini-van to take a walk...and another one was at the north east corner at the park.
I was in Switzerland last weekend and a woman was walking the strangest looking long-haired/wire-haired standard teckel guy...He wasn't sure what to think of me and the lady didn't speak English; but, we spoke doxie!
