Title: how long does it take for a long haired dach to grow his hair

my dachs is 18 months old and i always thought that his hair would be long by now it is a god length on the tail,ears and chest but his side flanks are still pretty short i brush him regularly and bath him every four weeks

It takes them  a while to grow their flossies, and becareful what you wish for as Amy got double dipped in the hair department. A good insite to what the flanks should look like is that they look like a red setters coat. I'd say it a about at least two years. Tried to find one of OLiver who I have been told has a good coat. But Australia may have diffrent coat discriptions.
Just love him and cuddle him as a happy dachies equals a gorgious coat.

your dog is lovely do you ever give it cod liver oil tablets i give mine to bruno and his coat is really shiny so is your dash's  that's why i am asking. i will just have to wait anther 6mths aprox for his hair to grow i wouldn't even mind if it didn't lol i just wanted to ask how long it takes

Brekke took three years to get her full coat in - it varies... a lot
