Title: How do I find a dog obedience class??
Post by: doxielady5569128 on March 07, 2007, 04:22:11 PM
Hey everyone,
I know, sorry I have been so absent from the board lately.  Life has been CRAZY  around our house.  (More than usual.   )   I am really wanting to enroll Porky in an obedience class before he gets much older.  There's only one problem.  I'm having a heck of a time finding one around here.   Any ideas who to call?  I looked up dog training in the yellow pages and found none within a 60 mile radius of my home.   If you guys could help me out, I'd appreciate it.
Thanks!

Do you have any Dog Clubs of any kind around you might ask there did you look under dog in the white pages might be there,Grooming shops, vets, & boarding, kennels? Here in Tulsa in the Sunday newspaper they have a listing after all the classified ads on dogs a ad Mid Connent Kennel Club  they have allot of information about dogs. Also some colleges have obedience classes my sisters nice trained her Rottie there. If no luck go to the libary check out books and start you r self. If you read allot of books on the subject just pick out the parts you are comfortable with try it ther is all kinds of information on the internet too.You might try putting you r city in your search area and add obedience to it see if you get anything worth a try.Have you trained a dog before?

Do you have a Petco or PetSmart in your area?  If so, check with them -- they also offer obedience classes.

You might also want to check with Porky Pie's vet.  They usually can give you a recommendation.  Good Luck!

Thanks for the ideas!   I am not aware of any dog clubs around here.  If there are any then they must be exclusive since they are not in the yellow pages.   I will try calling the humane society and Porky's vet to see if they have any ideas.   We could go to PetCo classes, but that would require a 2 hour drive one way, so that's not really an option except as a last resort.
