Title: cabin fever???
Post by: dotzmom on February 19, 2007, 02:23:41 PM
Hey Gang!

I know it's been a looonnnggg time since I posted but
we've had big life changes in the last year.
Daddy moved out and we've been living with Grandbo for almost a year.
Dottie & Frankie have adjusted very well to the move.
Grandbo's home all day and they have a gaggle of cats to keep in line.  lol!
They really seem to enjoy living in the semi-country.  ;-)
BUT, I've noticed in the last 2 months or so that Frankie
seems to be depressed at times.  Funny sounding I know but
he's just not him self at times.  He's such a lick your face kind
of babydog which has been cut at least in half and he's sleeping a lot.
Just curious if anyone else's Doxies are having a little
cabin fever/depression.  I guess we're all waiting for spring.
He just had his second birthday on Feb 8th.

Hope all of you are doing great!

I'll try to post some new pics of my kids tonight.

Hugs, Lisa
Dottie -almost 4
Frankie - 2

Wishing Frankie a Happy Barkday and many, many more.

It's not uncommon for dachsies to be less active during the winter.   Shorter days and colder temps trigger a dogs natural reaction to store more fat as food was not as plentiful their wild ancestors.   Also, now that Frankie is getting to be a mature adult dachshund, he is going to mellow a bit and some of that puppy energy will dissipate.

Happy Barkday !!!!    I agree with David - mine are couch potatoes during the winter (more so than normal !!!) - and I can really tell a difference when it warms up and the sun comes out - the energy starts to return !
