Has anyone ever experienced your babies getting puny after eating treats? I have noticed lately that when i have given all my dogs treats that i usually keep in a plastic container, that only Willie gets puny and wont eat. Usually within 12 hours he wants to eat again. I am going to throw these treats out to prevent illness in him or any of my other dogs.
Anyone got ideas here? Thanks,
Cajsa will refuse food if it's been kept in a plastic bag. When we travel I generally fill up a ziplock bag with food. After a day or so she won't eat it. I can only assume it's because the plastic flavors it or maybe makes it smell funny. As for feeling puny is it possible that he is having issues with an ingredient in the treats? Are they a new kind or different flavor? I know sometimes Cajsa will have issues with certain ingredients (namely preservatives/colorings and other additives) but she didn't always.
I think you might be right, April.
These treats are older and are going into the garbage just in case.
I do have some home made treats and some for dogs with food allergies too so i will give those to them. They are all in glass jars that i have saved from canning things.
I feed Purina One for sensitive systems as my dog food and he loves it. But this morning he didnt want to eat but isnt sick like he got a couple of weeks ago. Thanks for the suggestion. I will keep this in mind if i am traveling with him or my other dogs.
You can go to Bullwrinkle.com and get home made dog recipes for treats & biscuts so far mine like the apple & cinnamon biscuts & the peanutbutter ones. Allot of the recipes call for wheat flour so I trying different flours instead going to look for rice flour have yet to find any.
