Hi, my name is Robbie. I am a friend of dachsmack's wife, Melanie. They told me about this site and i am happy to be here.
I live in Alabama and have 1 dachshund, 5 basset hounds, and one mixed rottie along with 3 cats and one horse. I also foster horses for my vet and am involved with basset hound rescue of Alabama as the medical coordinator.
My doxie's name is Willie. He is a rescue of sorts. My step daughter was moving and couldnt take him with her (the usual story, you know) and she got him just a few weeks earlier due to similar circumstances. I was going to get him into rescue via Mack and Melanie but the following morning after bringing him home with us, he got up in my husband's face and gave him sugar, so Everett, my husband says, "just take him to the vet and get him neutered and we will keep him". So Willie is our baby now. He keeps the bassets in line and the rottie mix too.
I am the animal control officer for the city of Homewood, Alabama. I work for the police department and assist the police officers in their duties sometimes too.
I am also sharing a collage of all my dogs here for you to see.
I look forward to getting to know you all. Thanks, Robbie

Welcome to the wonderful world of Wiener Writings!
I have a soft spot in my heart for bassets, as I had two in my life - Maggie and Sambo. Maggie found a forever home in San Diego with friends of ours when my husband was transfered to Puerto Rico, and the vet advised against trying to ship her. She threw up on every single car ride and the vet thought trying the multiple flights would be too risky.
Sambo was Puerto Rican (!) and came ack to Maryland with us. He needed yard space, and the Navy housing at the Naval Academy was postage stamp size, so he went to live with my husband's family in Kansas. My sister-in-law is now a confirmed basset lover!
