I think someone brought this up the other week.
Oliver has taken when he gets real "get off my nature strip" to howling. Just a thought ...do they grow into it as he has only just started to howl..............

Oliver hear , it sure brings ma out real fast to see what I'm up to. Amy does'nt howl so I cannot blame her for barking at the people on our nature strip.
Ollie may have discovered his howl by accident and now he uses it. Zora is the howler right now. She lets off an "alert" howl before going into her barking cadence, which was what Max used to do. Max would reinforce it by sticking his tail straight up in the air as if he was adding an exclamation point to his howl. Zeke and Rudy were not howlers, but both had the more fearsome barks of their respective pairs.
Yes that's about it, he howls then barks, and the tail goes right up. Emma never had to as her bark sounded like a rotweiller.

Ohh how cute is that! I can't get Hallie to howl but I have it on good authority that the rare times I leave her alone she will howl mournfully. I can't get her to howl even when other dogs howl though.
Amy hear auntie Dee DEe, us "girlies " don't do thingies like that do we ms H................at least while others are watching.
Weee Amy with da hair problem
Hey Amy, us grrrls has to keep SOME of our dignity. What with the butt squeezing and toe chops and occasional dress up and other indignities, we can at least choose not to howl.
Speaking of hair problems, I am growing a mane! All around my neck just like a lion, my hair is getting longer and weallly soft like cottony. It used to be straight and long back there but now it stands straight up and makes me look very "Lion Queen". Moms kind of afraid to think where this is all heading hee. But so far it's really cute.
