I have a 5 yr old red smooth mini. She has been having back problems for 8+ weeks now. Unfortunately surgery is not an option for us for a lot of reasons. She has done steoroids, NSAIS and now again prednasone(sp?) I have been told this is a final effort to get her better!! Not to be negative I don't see her getting better at least not at this point. She has been on strict crate rest for at least 8 weeks and she has only declined. She is down now but at this point still has bowel and bladder control. We go back to vets in a week and a half and if no improvement will be fitted for a cart!! Although we cannot do surgery, I am willing to help her lead a full and happy life. I guess that's it for now!!

That is a website that specifically deals with information on IVDD (back problems) in doxies...the people there have so much information and suggestions to give you. The site will really help you. Good luck with your baby.
Hi! My doxie has had back problems recently too- she just had surgery on Jan. 3rd and is in recovery. This board has been so helpful for me- many members here have gone thru back issues.
