Last night when I got home, Misty was a bit stiff, like her back hurt. I later determined the pain seemed to be in her neck area. She ate good and was wagging her tail, so thats a good sign. I gave her some prednisone and rimadyl that her vet sent home with her when she had her back espisode. Thankfully the vet was good enough to give us the medication just in case we had a recurrance like we're having now. I gave it to her again this morning, and hopefully with a day of rest in the pen she will feel better tonight. I think she could use a nice snooze in front of the woodstove, but we don't keep it going during the week because we are at work. I can't wait to fire it up on Friday night, dang, its been cold here for the past week, around -25F at night and -10F during the day. I am glad I decided to not take Misty to class, she can enroll in April. I think Alex is going to have a good time though. Thanks for the rays everyone!
Well thank goodness that you have the medication! Hopefully with crate rest she will be back to her normal self SOON! Let us know how she is doing Patty!
-25??????????????????????????????????????? Yikes! It was 45 degrees F. here this morning and I had to pry Oscy out from under his blankets! I remember those temps well from my years in New England. Brrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr.......
Yep, pretty darned cold here. And we just found out that our natural gas prices are going up 30% as of this month. I tell you what, I will be putting up a whole lot more firewood this next summer!!!
That is a huge bummer - I hope it is just a brief episode and that she is feeling better soon!

She had a back problem about 1.5 years ago, was in pain, so I took her to the vet. He x-rayed her and found a potential problem area that we need to keep an eye on. I'm glad we have the x-ray as a baseline. She was crated and on medication for a couple of weeks and got better. Misty is at her proper weight of 10.8 pounds, but she is very long and slender. Unlike Willy and Alex who have shorter backs and are more stout. They are also at their proper weight.
Oh no ! Rays on the way for Misty - and hoping too, that a day of rest will make her feel better......Let us know !
Warm CA rays and squeaky rays from Madderoo (she's squeakin' up a storm right now) to Misty Girl. Hope to read of even more improvement.
Oh no not Misty too!!! At least you know what to look for and are stopping it early. Keep us posted, boy these back problems are so rampant!! We can do all we know how to prevent it, but if they are predisposed it's probably going to happen no matter what we do. I hope this will be a brief one too and with some crate rest and the meds (thank goodness you have those) she will be fine in no time.
We woke up to snow, it's still snowing out there, I just took Hallie out to potty and she is laying in my lap here now wrapped in her blanket and I'm still pulling snowballs out of her hair. :)
So sorry Misty is having back issues again. I am glad she seems to be doing better with the meds and rest though. please keep us updated on how she's doing!
