Briefly, here's how mine went:
Being awake for 29 straight hours and on my feet for 14 hrs = $$$ unknown until insurance settles
Car's AC compressor dies midway through Illinois = 3+ hrs at shop + > $500
5-day stay at mother-in-law = Realization why I can't live in a big city
5-day stay with my mother = Total loss of what sanity I had
Being back home, PRICELESS !!!!
Ozzy was great the whole time. He travels so well and our families have been adopted as extra members of the "pack."
There's no way I can catch up on all the posts, so I hope everyone came through these past few weeks OK.
I couldn't help but to laugh, especially at the last laugh, but the first line has me a bit concerned, especially with the dollar signs and the word insurance in it! I'm glad you are now home to recover and Ozzy behaved!
What happened was, while on the way to our first stop in St. Louis, Amy developed a massive headache, and within a few hours was unable to keep even water down. Fearing dehydration, we took her to a hospital. We got there at 9:30 pm and got called back to the ER at 12:00 midnight. They put in an IV and gave Amy painkillers and anti-nausea medicine. Bloodwork, a CT scan of her head, and a spinal tap told us what was NOT causing the headache, but we never found out what the cause was. We left the hospital at noon the following day. Amy's headache eventually went away, but she has no memory of those two days and doesn't remember the spinal tap at all.
Because I was on my feet for 14 hours (the chairs offered were horrendous to sit in), I developed tendonitis in my right foot, which is now slowly going away.
Fortunately, the rest of the holiday went very well.
That is no fun. Has Amy ever had migraines? It sounds like the classic symptoms, especially with the nausea, but if she has never had one before, the ER will do all the tests to rule out everything else-which is what you want them to do. It is weird that she has no recollection of that time. I'm glad it finally went away so you could continue the travel and eventually end up back at home!
Thank goodness Amy if fine now. On the mother and mothr in law I had it hte other way round. Nick and I keep threating to ourselves we are going to tell both we are going away and just staying home with the phones of the hook.
Happy new year....
