Title: Article on dog food
Post by: Beth on December 28, 2006, 07:06:27 AM
This article made me sick...I knew from this board about not feeding your dog food with "byproduct" or "meal" ingredients, but I didn't know it went this far!

Also, I had never heard of the book called, "The Dog Bible".  Anyone else know about it or have it?

If the article made you sick - i don't think I want to read it........  I haven't heard of the book you mentioned - have you tried doing a search for it?

I read it all the way down to the "post your own comment" section.  I wonder what people think/thought "meat by-products" are?  It looks like a lot of publicity for the book, or a sure-fire way to get people riled!  I love the last poster's parting comment "Coming up: the shocking revelation that my rabbi is Jewish!"

I went and read every word have read it all before I do have the Dog Bible book will see if I can find what she is talking about I have had the book for about a year has some interesting articles in it also has allot of resource information. Personally I feed Canadie All Life Stages maybe if i was rich I might fed raw doing good to feed my husband & myself we do not get the recommend daily serving of fruits & Vegetables. The dogs get a high quality dog food it is listed on Whole Dog Journal as one of the better foods, all everyone can do is the best they can for their animals & love them.

We don't get the same foods as you all in the states, but here is my take. They are DOGS they think nothing is better than eating a rotten possum carcus, the more entrails the better, not that my pair would be allowed to. I feed mine Hills reduction and human grade meat, or the small foil square packs of divine or my dog. They are always getting comments on their coats so I'd say thats a positive. Pity some don't think as much of what our senior cits are eating.....................

Know allot of Vets push Hills Science Foods from what I have been told over the years vets do not get much education in Nutrition if you look on the bad of Hills Science diet food the very first ingredient is Corn usually the first ingredient is what is mostly in the bag of food..The Science Diet did not make the list on Whole Dog Journal of good foods just like Beniful it is a popular food right now.Whole Dog Journal is suppose to check out items for dogs they do not get any kick backs.I have been reading dog food labels for years have a very picky Papillon.
