Thanks so much for the rays!
The specialist facility that we went to was so wonderful and the people are so great! http://www.vshsd.com/Specialties-Neurology_Neurosurg/
At this point they are still going to take the conservative approach and switch her to Prednisone and up her dosage of Tramadol since she is still walking and has good response. We have another appointment on Friday at 11:30 am to meet with the neurologist again for a follow-up and possible further diagnostic measures depending on how she is doing - MRI, CT scan or mylogram. Just have to keep her quiet and crated for now. They did give us the option of hospitalizing her tonight and have the diagnostics run tomorrow if we wanted but they really felt the conservative approach until Friday would be fine.
Thanks again for all the support! I'll continue to keep you updated!
So glad you posted I've been on pins and needles.
I'm glad she is doing as well as she is and that they feel the conservative approach is best! It is hard to not say "no do everything you can and do it now!!" , the waiting is torture but as good as she is, it's good they aren't going to get real invasive real fast. Not to sound like a broken record :) but those drugs are going to have her feeling real good, her problem won't be healed up though so be VERY STRICT with keeping her crated and as still as possible. It's hard when they feel good and don't see the point and just want out, but don't give in. It's the most important thing you can do.
Hang in there Kari! I'm sure she'll heal up just fine. Glad you have a good neuro. to go to I hope it's not too far away. Give little Penny a hug for us!
Kari, I hate to hear this... I too am a member of Dodgerslist... They are great there.... They really helped me through losing my Boo in August... I still frequent the list alot, as they are like family along with all of you.... I think it is our mutual love for our furkids... I will pray for you and Penny, in hopes that she gets better quick... At least you caught it at an early stage, that is wonderful... With my Boo it all happened overnight(literally), he was fine the night before and did nothing out of the ordinary, or so I thought... He jumped onto our bed, back off and then on again, I woke up the next morning to a paralyzed pupper... It was very hard for me to believe that my Boo wasn't walking.... I am sure they told you on Dodger's to crate 24/7 for 6 weeks and to carry her out to potty, and that is the best thing... I truly believe in the crate and Prednisone... It was helping my Boo and he was completely paralyzed in the hind end with no deep pain sensation.... He only made it another week though, God Bless Him!!! It is amazing how hard it still is to talk about, though... I have faith in you Penny and Kari, stay strong, you'll get through this.... And, Penny, your momma is only crating you soooo much because she loves you even more sweet girl... Penny looks alot like my Boo did... Ok, dang near identical... :angel4: Get well beautiful girl... And, Kari, if you need to talk about it, I am here... *hugs & prayers* ~Tara & EmmyLou
Kari - I know you must be a wreck - but rest, rest, rest - both you and Penny. I am glad you have such a good doctor and good people at the facility - that is a blessing in itself. Sending massive rays to Penny that the meds will take care of her. Please keep us posted -
Soft smoochies to Miss Penny

So true! I was ready to hand them the credit card and tell them to do all the tests and do them right now! She is being so good about being in her crate. I think the pain killers have her a bit doped up. Her eyes are super dialated...she's flying a bit high  Thankfully I don't have to go back to work until next Tuesday so I have been able to be home with her. Thanks again for all the help!
I'm so sorry to hear of Penny's pain. Clifford has been there and done that for 3 operations. His were at ages 5 & 6 and he's 12 now. The prednisone really will help. Clifford still has episodes where he gets a pinched nerve (we think) and needs to have a mild regimen with it. REST, REST, REST as everyone else has mentioned is vital.
Sending rays the meds will handle the issue.
Sending mega rays Penny's way. Hope she gets well soon!
