Solomon is home! I got lots of slurpy kisses at the vet, and that was BEFORE I gave him all the belly rubs from his family on the weiner dog board! :hello2: His leg is annoying him because of the tape on it, but other than that he is amazingly back to normal. I am so glad that he goes to work with me, and I was able to get him to the vet right away.
The verdict is that if he doesn't have another seizure before tomorrow morning it was an isolated incident. If he does, he will be put on medication to control seizures. The vet said he most likely has a form of epilepsy, but it is very minor. It may or may not get worse as he gets older (he just turned 8). Thank you for your rays, I know they will pull us through this one way or another.
Every once in a while I forget why Sol is truly King Solomon - then something like this happens and he reminds me of what a trooper he is. The vet said that he wouldn't be hungry, we should just give him water when we got home. Well - when we got in the house and I set him down he walked (without a limp I might add) to the fridge and beaked it! He was saying "Mom, I missed lunch and its an hour past my dinner GIMME FOOD". LOL. Then I gave him a greenie so he and I could sit on the couch and relax, and he wouldn't eat it. This is very odd for the King. I thought he must be tired or have an upset tummy. Then Kirby walked into the room. Guess what?? Suddenly the greenie was wonderful, and Sol was back at his bossy best - informing Kirby that he shouldn't even LOOK at him. When the greenie was gone, he swiped Kirby's dingo.
I think its safe to say he is alllll better. But we won't count our chickens before they hatch, so I will let you all know tomorrow. Thanks again for the rays, its so much nicer to know we are not alone in all this.
P.S. Kirby is content just to lay next to Sol. He could care less about bones, or about Sol growling - he just wants to be by his big brudder. :grommit:
So happy to hear that the Sol is home - we have our fingers crossed that it was an isolated episode! Belly rubs to the King and Kirbydoodle
Glad to hear he is at home and is going to be okay!
:hello2: :hello2: :hello2: :hello2: :hello2: :hello2:

I'm so glad that King Sol is ok and that the Kingdom is back in order. I know Kirby missed his brudder, and I bet Sol is glad to be back home with SBD, even if he won't admit to that.
Cute pictures!

Woo Hoo - Glad The King is home and on the mend.....Let us know how he is in the morning !
Glad the King is feeling better. Sure hope that it is a one time incident but if he needs meds it isn't that hard to manage. Normally the seizures start earlier than 8. Just be sure if you think he is having one . No loud noises ( music, yelling even other dogs barking)and keep the lights dim those seem to make them last longer. If you take him in the car while he is having one be sure to cover his eyes so the sun or lights don't flash in his eyes. Good luck Sue you all will be in our prayers.

Keep feeling better Sol!!! :grouphug:
:grouphug: Oh sol, hope your little leg feels better, and that the seizure is a one-time thing.
I didnt know about King Sol's problems! I'm so glad he's home and feeling better now though. Belly rubs to both him and SBD.
:hello2: :hello2: :hello2: :hello2: :hello2: for Sol! Hard to keep a tough dachsie down!
Glad to hear he's back!
My little boy Beau has epilepsy at only two years old. I was devistated to find out, but the vet doc told me it's quite common and they can live totally normal lives with medication. He take a couple phenylbarbatols a day, and you could never tell by looking at him that he has a problem. I understand your king is 8, but he's still got a lot of years ahead of him. He'll be just fine! Beau has not had one seizure since being diagnosed and medicated. He has gained some weight though. But if that's the worst of it, I'll take it. Extra walks does everyone good!

We missed the initial episode. Please accept our belated rays for King Sol. We're glad to hear he's doing better. SBD isn't such an SBD anymore...he looks all grown up!
That is great news!
PHEW!
