After being treated at the vet yesterday, Zeke vomited again this morning, so it was back to the vet. This time they are going to keep him overnight. His lipase levels were down, but not as far as they'd like, so the pancreatitis is still bothering him. Zora also vomited this morning, leading us to believe that the two of them got into something (rabbit poop?) in the backyard. The vet seemed a bit less concerned about Zora and told us to hold back food for 24 hours...if no vomiting, reintroduce food. Zora hasn't vomited, but she's once again freaked out about not having her brother around.
They are giving Zeke fluids subcutaneously. Tomorrow morning they will reintroduce fluids and if all goes well, he'll probably get food later in the day. I'm not sure if he's coming home tomorrow or Saturday yet.
Oh no! Poor little guy! Lots of  s coming Zeke's way for a speedy recovery!
Sending healing doxie rays Zeke's way. Hope he gets to feeling better soon.

Poor babies...I'm so sorry to hear this. Let us know how he is doing David, and gentle kisses to sweet Zora. Oscy and Buelah have a really hard time being apart....I guess it's a mixed blessing. I'm praying that all is well and that Zeke is home and healthy for the holidays.
What a bummer! Major rays headed to both of them! :comfort:
Oh no, we hate to hear this. I hope he's home soon too poor little guy. I went through this with Jessie, if she got into any little thing it would set her off I had to watch her like a hawk. No fun. I'll be watching for an update on him.
Hugs all round and we will be sending dachie rays.

Rays on the way for Mr. Zeke - and Zora to relax!
Sorry to hear Zeke had to go back to the hospital. Sending hHHHHHHHHHH's & PPPPPPPPPPP's to Zeke and Zora and of course the whole family. Hope he gets home soon and you have a very quiet and peaceful holiday weekend. :comfort:
Zack says he will come and keep Zora company if she is too lonely. He wants to get away from Zena (who beats him up all the time).

Rays coming from IL for your "under the weather" pair. (We're a "bit" under the weather ourselves with pouring rain coming down.)
Zeke had an uneventful night and was very happy and friendly when the vet staff came in. He has quickly endeared himself to the entire staff of the vet hospital. If all goes well, he should be home late this afternoon.
Rays on the way for both of them - what a tough time. Sure hope Zeke gets to come home tonight. Keep us posted please -
That is great news! I hope this is the last we see of this thing!
Zeke is home and in good spirits. Zora was bouncing off the walls in excitement. Zeke just kind of sniffed around and wagged his tail.
It turned out these episodes were most likely being triggered by me brushing his teeth. It struck me this morning that the episodes occurred within 48 hours of me brushing their teeth. I gave this information to the vet, and the puzzle pieces began to fit together. For years, I used baking soda as toothpaste for Rudy & Max with no ill effects...Max lived until past 17 1/2 years. However, the very high sodium content in baking soda does not agree with Zeke & Zora's chemistry, especially Zeke's. Both the Zs have larger jaws and teeth than Rudy & Max did, so I was using more baking soda to clean their teeth. The difference between what I used on Rudy & Max and what I used on Zeke & Zora clearly went over the "tipping point" that their systems could handle.
This particular vet does not recommend using baking soda. So, I went out and spent the money to get "proper" pet toothpaste. I'm just kicking myself. It's one heck of a way to learn a lesson.
Oh David, so glad that Zeke is home again and that you found out what caused the problem. Who would have thought that baking soda might be the cause.
Smoochies to both of your furkids.

I am just glad you figured it out !!!! Sending rays that both of their tummies get back to normal very quickly !
I'm glad Zeke is home and you found out the problem. Zeke and Zora will probably be glad, too. Bet the doggy toothpaste taste much better than baking soda!!
Don't be hard on yourself David, it's great news really, something you can avoid! Clever of you to piece that together. This should be the end of this then that's good!!!
I'm so glad to hear that Zeke is doing well and that you figured out what was prompting this. Don't kick yourself to much David....who would know? The important thing is that he is home and doing well. :thumb: :thumb: :thumb:
