I became an official dachshund owner for the first time when I brought Rudy home. Hard to believe how much has happened in those years. Rudy soon begat Max, which eventually begat Scallywag and then begat Margie and Rusty. Soon the friends began to leave us...Scally in May '98, Rusty in December '01, Rudy in June '05 and finally Max in October '06.
But, the circle of life came around again with the addition of hooman Jessica in Sept '03 and now my next go-around with dachshunds with Zeke and Zora, having come in October, although we knew the Zs almost from the beginning.
It's amazing what one simple decision has done for our lives. My life have been so enriched because of the presence of these furkids. I'm glad I made that decision 14 years ago!
I didn't realize Rudy and Max came before Scallywag (and Margie!). Yes I'd say that had to be one of the best decisions of your life. I do think some things are destined. Their time with us is way too short, that is the one thing I'll never understand but it forces us to make the very most out of every second with them.
Yes it is amazing that they work their magic. We now have 3 at the bridge and have just realized that Oliver is 6. I still remember carrying Emma into the house and was terified she would stood on, little did we know she would rule the roost.
Think of all the friends we would not have met, eg. on the net or walking them, or talking to someone who is walking a Dachie.

It IS amazing how one little decision can set off a chain of events. Like you, David, I am on Dachshunds Phase II.
