Happy Thanksgiving everyone. I am off work in about an hour and will enjoy a 5-day weekend!!! Dan and I will stay home, Dan only gets Thursday off and he wants to continue his project in his new shop -- he is building cabinets for our garage and the laundry room, and a new stair step up to the couch for the doxies.
I will spend the weekend putting up our Christmas trees, making pierogis for Christmas Eve, and making our Thanksgiving feast -- roast chicken (there's only two of us), stuffing, mashed potates, gravy, mushroom pie, Patty's famous cranberry sauce, veggies and rhubarb crisp with vanilla bean ice cream. And champagne!
Just found that Mushroom Pie recipe. It has mushrooms, onions and cream cheese in the filling, and the crust is made with butter and sour cream. Will let you know how it turns out.
If you are travelling....drive carefully!!! Have fun!
I second the Happy Thanksgiving to everyone here. It is easy to get caught up in our everyday business and take many things for granted. One thing I have learned in the last year is that each day is a blessing and should be realized at such.
Meghan is driving from Nashville to Greenville, SC for the Thanksgiving holidays for the last time as college undergrad. This time next year she will be in grad school either full-time or part-time. Just 3 more weeks and then one semester to go! She was in Chattanooga when she called about an hour ago, sitting in traffic and wanting to be home! She still has Atlanta to deal with :pray:
We will spend Thursday with friends and family. Randy will be at the fire department for 24 hours with his firefighting family, but I assure you he will NOT go hungry!
Meg thinks we should go shopping on Friday, but SC has decided to have a tax-free weekend, so I'm not sure I want to deal with that huge of a crowd. It's bad enough without taking away the sales tax, too!

Clifford: Phew, what a day. Beautiful weather to scout the yard, good food to share with my hoo-family on my 12th Gotcha Day. At the end of it all, I'm thankful for a soft pillow and warm blanket to doze under while we watch TV.

Ok, we're late, but we hope that everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving. Ours was nice and relaxing, aside from having to "make the rounds" in the family.
