When Rudy & Max were around, these two were unquestionably "my" dogs. As much as they adored Margie (Max in particular), as soon as I showed up, they would drop Margie like a hot potato and come over to me.
With the Zs, the shoe is now on the other foot. They are both definitely Mama's Puppers. Zora, in particular, has become quite attached to Margie. They like being around me, to be sure, but as soon as Margie shows up, they forget about me. When Margie takes Jessica out to the bus in the morning, the two of them whine like babies until Margie comes back in again, even if I am sitting on the couch. Another time, they heard Margie down in the garage. They both stopped what they were doing and listened for her, ears fully cocked, until she came into view, in which they erupted into a series of fast-wagging tails and bouncing up and down in excitement.
It's definitely humbling for someone described as the "dog guy" by the rest of the family!
That's really interesting David do you think it is a female thing...taking to Margie because of having lived with Yamisi?
I had actually wondered with Margie would get at least one of them. At least you know your girls are safe. Just be safe in knowing you are now the guy who loves a fur mum and a human mum.
God bless

Awwwwww.......I agree with DD - Yamisi was a single woman when she got both puppers and they were with her for a while before she married. They KNOW that mom is the leader !!!! It sounds like all are settling in good - I am sure Yamisi is missing them but so grateful that they have a wonderful home. Hang in there dad - you will get SOME of their time !!!!!
Awww! They still love you. They just feel more comfortable with women because that is how they were raised, by a woman. That's like with Porky, he gets excited when my husband comes home, but then he is right back by my side. I spent more time with him when he was young since my husband was working, so he learned to go to a woman for comfort.
