Title: Do your fur babies snore??
Post by: doxielady5569128 on November 14, 2006, 11:05:05 AM
We have noticed that Porky has started snoring in his sleep lately.  Do any of your puppers do this???   Since it has just started with Porky i'm thinking its an allergy thing.   But, it sure is  hard to sleep at night when you have a snoring doxie and a snoring husband by your side.  :2funny:  Especially since they seem to take turns.  One snores, while the other inhales, then they switch off.  Its hard not to laugh all night about it.  I'm going to try a humidifier in our room tonight and see if that helps with Porky's snoring.  And..i'm having the vet come and take a listen to his lungs tonight just in case.   (I'm paranoid, what can I say?)

LIKE A FREIGHT TRAIN!  BOTH of 'em!  LOL.  Well, think on it.  Dachsies have those long snoots.  The air has to go somewhere.     Maddie is funny.  In the morning, it is our ritual that she wants up on my lap after she cleans up her eggie plate (we set down our finished egg plates.  They really like mine because I like my eggs soft)  She gets so content that she starts snoring with her eyes open.  She is very relaxed.  Dolly is our grrrrl who can fall asleep in 10 seconds.  Must be nice not to have a worry in your head....LOL.  Hmmmm, I just thought of something.  Maybe that's why my mobile home needs re-leveling.  Between hubby, me and the hounds snoring at night, we have rattled our house off it's piers!  :D

Well, Rick snores louder than Brekke, but not by much!  Thank goodness she is in her doggie bed, so it's not right in my ear!

EVery now and then Schatzi will do a soft snore, but it's not too bad and it's usually when she drops off into a deep sleep really fast. I don't think I could handle it if she snored loudly. Molly is enough for the whole family. As I type this she is snoring away. She can be heard in the next room a lot of times. Between Molly and Randy, I will sometimes go to Meghan'!s room so I can sleep

Rudy used to snore like a pig.   Max would occasionally snore.   I've caught one of the Zs snoring one time, but since they sleep together in their crate, I really couldn't tell which one.

I thought snoring was more of an airway obstruction than a lung problem. I'm not sure, though. I'd be interested to hear what your vet says. Let us know. I bet Porky has cute little snores.

The reason i had the vet check his lungs was because the snoring was sounding like a rattle in the lungs, not just a snore.   Porky, checked out just fine though.  The vet looked into his nose and said he has a lot of congestion in his nose, so to give him benedryl since it is more than likely just an allergy thing again.  And then if he's still so congested in a few days, we'll try something else.   It has been quite windy, so I know that is aggravating his allergies.   Since he started the benedryl yesterday afternoon he seems to be breathing much better.  He's still snoring but not as loud!   In case he has a cold, he gets to sleep in the big bed the rest of the week.  Plus, i'm making more blankets for his dog bed.

Boone,no.  Skeeter, and how!  Sometimes she snores like one of the Three Stooges, snorting on the inhale and whistling on the exhale!  It's hysterical!

That is so funny!!   :2funny:  My family used to make fun of my dad for how he snores.  "HONK, POO".  LOL    Then one day I snuck into his room, and our Britney Spaniel was doing it too!   I about died!   i guess she learned how to snore like him.   My husband does the Three Stooges snore. LOL   SHHH...Don't tell him I told you!
Maybe this would be a good discussion topic....What does you snore sound like. LOL   :2funny:  Too funny!!

Hallie only snores once in a great while when she's really tired, it's always a delicate little snore, I love it when she does that.

I'm glad the vet said Porky will be ok. I want your vet!! I would love to have a vet to call and have them stop by my house when we have a problem, you are lucky to have him.

They snore sometimes. I know they've both woken me up in the middle of the night and I had to nudge them to make them stop!

I haven't noticed Ozzy snoring, but I wouldn't hear anything over hubby anyway

I think it's a hoot when they're napping and they start dreaming.

Dee Dee,
The only reason our vet does housecalls once in a while is because 1. He is distantly related to me. 2. He is a close family friend to my husband's family as well, 3.  he is nearly retired and has time to.  I agree we are really lucky.  We can only get him to come over during times when he is not busy.   Porky just loves him.  However, he is not our regular vet. We can't afford his services very often so we go see a different vet in town.  We only have him come see Porky for the little stuff so its free.

Misty is our snorer.  Its more of a contented deep breathing.  I love it.  I love hearing all three of my dogs breathing when they are sleeping in the bed with us.  Its comforting.
My horse Domingo would snore.  One morning in the middle of January, I was going out to my car to go to work.  It was -20 out, crystal clear skies with stars everywhere, really dark.  And I heard this growling.  I stopped in my tracks and listened, then loooooooked. There was Domingo laying down in the middle of the corral under the stars just snoring away.  He was a riot.  I'm sure he's keeping everyone laughing in heaven with his jokes.
