Title: Patches the great hunter
Post by: papbouv on October 19, 2006, 10:48:06 PM
Last night brought Buddy in let Patches & Gizmo out and I hear Patches barking a few minutes later so i go out to see what she is having such a fit about. I hear something carring on could not figure out what it was Patches goes tearing out to wards the back and is barking her head off was brave since I was out there. I turned came back into the house for a flashlight well Patches came running back like her tail was on fire. Not so brave with Mom gone so I go out look around did not see or hear anything.I go out today to do poop patrol and up on top of the cement wall is poop??? it was bigger than what Patches would do the wall is at least 6ft.tall the regular cement blocks so it is wide 4 0r 5 inches wide??? Wonder what type of critter did that???. There is a cement factory behind us they make the cement blocks their all kinds of critters over there Fox,Possums,Bats,Cats,& Red Tailed Hawks maybe an Owl back there also on the other side of the Cement factory a little ways down is a creek and a wooded area not very big.A few years ago we were at the Park about a mile from my house and a coyote was really moving to wards the woods on the other side of the street from the Park. Always worry when I let the little girls out at night sure will be glad when Buddy can stay out with them right now he is too wild and rough I hope I will be able to let them all out together one of these years.Looks like I will get to go out with them for a while Patches may think she is a big dog but if a wild critter was out there she would be a late snack.

Yeah. that would worry me too.  We have that problem where we live also.  You never know what's out there.  I'm sure everything will be okay.  Just remember to keep a close eye on them while they are outside.

Ah dang I was reading anxiously to get to the end to see what it was! But you don't know? Yikes! I have to say though it sounds like you have my dream fence!!!! 6 ft cement blocks??? I have dreamed of a cement or rock masonry type of fence for years! Extremely expensive is what I've found here. Any chance you might have a photo with the fence in it so I can see? It is so wet where we live the wood fences rot.

Makes you wonder what kind of critter that leaves that big of a pile, can do it on top of a 6 ft fence!!! My real dream fence would be 8 ft concrete block and the whole yard covered with bird netting LOL.

I guy I work with lost his mini-dachshund to an owl, but he would just let the dog out without watching what was going on, which he admits was a big mistake.   I am very watchful over Ozzy when I take him out.  Probably, my presence deters the owls and other critters anyway.

I can't imagine what would leave a pile like that!!

When I had the Bouvier's they protected little Gizmo when she was out not sure if Buddy ever will protect Patches or Gizmo I always let Buddy out first then bring him in then let the girls go out. Figure if anytihing is around Buddy will scare it off he does usually go around the fence line to see if anything has been in the yard overnight. I usually go out with the girls. Know one think Patches has allot bigger teeth than Gizmo she has tiny teeth not much good for protecting her self from anything. One time when we were at the Park a Red Tailed Hawk sure was watching Gizmo but Jake (Bouvier) was with us & Gizmo had her wool coat on.Bouvier's were more farm type dogs not sure if a Doberman would protect a house mate???
