Title: You can never have just one.....
Post by: lunakat on October 14, 2006, 05:49:32 AM
We added another Doxie to the crew. So the count is 2 doxies and 1 bichon! Things happened rather quickly here yesterday. My mom was approached on wed by a coworker who told me she had a doxie she was trying to get rid of. My mom said she never even knew the woman owned a doxie until that point. Well the owner he was 6 months old and she was already the second owner and she was willing to sell my mom the purebred little man for $150 because she was desperate for cash. The owner stated the little guy was home alone for over 12hours a day and was locked in the bathroom at night. (Now I am starting to worry about neglect)  :angry1:My mom says the woman already has 2 kids and is struggling to get by. She also mentioned the woman was not the brightest bulb in the box.  Well a furious search was on to try and find this little guy a forever home, I even called a friend of mine who was looking for a dog. After a brief conversation with her and not finding anyone who was interested we decided maybe we should add to the bunch. Well my mom got a hold of this woman late yesterday afternoon and asked her to bring the dog ASAP. Well the dog arrived at my mom's job and it was at that moment my mom knew she had made the right decision. The dog looked horrible! His eyes are so huge they are popping out of his head! He is so emaciated I can feel all of his little bones in his body! :angry7: :angry9: Its so heart wrenching! Well my mom asked the previous owner what he ate and she said she didn't know! (What do you mean you don't know?!) My mom pressed further and the owner says she thinks dry but knows he eats cat food. Ugh! So he came home with my mom last night. She said she cried the whole way home. :crybaby2: He is cute but needs a little fattening up. He is a tan and dapple mix. Don't know his weight yet, will put him on scale this am when things have settled down a bit. He is so scared I think he might have been abused, real skittish, tail tucked between legs and just a trembling. He is an unneutered male and the other 2 puppers are neutered so we are making an appt ASAP next week to get him taken care of. Also he only had one shot so far so we have to get that taken care of. I don't think he has ever been outside, his nails are so long. Also we have dubbed him Ziggy! The other 2 puppers are not quite sure what to do with him. He is a little hump happy and mounted our little bichon female several times much to her dismay. Poor little girl was chased around the house several times to her dismay. Ziggy even mounted our male doxie Fritz but that didn't go over to well. Even my own leg is not immune. But we believe after a vet visit and time he will calm down a bit. Poor little guy was following me around in the kitchen and I opened the treat can to get him a treater. He sniffed it, dropped it on the floor, and *gasp* walked away from it! Last night we separated everyone in the living room onto separate couches and chairs so that everyone could get used to everything. Ziggy wouldn't sit still, the bichon was sleeping on my head trying to get away form him and Fritz was snuggled under the green banke sleeping with one eye open! I will post pics of the new little guy later this morning, he’s sleeping now, it was a hard night for him!

Poor Little Ziggy.  I am SOOO GLAD you made room for one more.  The previous owner should be turned in for neglect and abuse.  That makes me soooo angry!!!  At least now he will be taken care of and it will be a decision you WILL NEVER REGRET.  I have two doxies and an Australian Shepherd mix and they play together wonderfully.  Good luck to you and all your babies....please let us see some pictures asap.

ziggy is so lucky to have found a home with you!!  I get so angry when i hear stories like this  :cussing:.  There is no reason an innocent animal should EVER be treated that way.   I cried when I read your post about him.   Bless you for taking him in!

How wonderful you guys took him into your home! He is SO CUTE! He does look a bit thin but I'll bet he settles down and puts on some weight in no time. What a story!

Please take care of sweet Ziggy.  I am so furious at his last never parent that I can't see straight! :BangHead:  She DIDN'T KNOW WHAT HE ATE????  HELLO!!     Please give the little boy a chance and love him forever. I know you will.  He deserves that.  Thank you for caring.

OMG, Ziggy is a doll.  Poor little guy, luckily, with a little care he may forget all about the bad things and love the new and good!

Good luck to you and your fur family!

Like everyone else this story both saddens and infuriates me!  God bless you for taking him in and giving him the home he deserves.  He really sounds a lot like my Toby, when he first came to live with us.  He even LOOKS like him!
Believe me, with good food and lots of love you will soon have a happy and healthy little guy!

Such a sweet little face!  I'm sure that he will be much happier now that he's getting the love and care that he needs.

Bless your heart for taking in this sweet one......I am sure we could find a large group of animals lovers here who would LOVE to strangle that woman.......AShghhfdkfdfjaekljklfjdkf.

I am sure he will fatten up in no time and will realize quickly that he has found his forever home !
