Bander Bee, as my family likes to call him, is turning 4 today!! I stayed up late making him a special doxie cake just for him! He is my little brother's dog.
We met Bandit when a family in our town moved away. They had left him behind in a stinky, filthy house all alone with his kitty friends. About two weeks later, a friend of ours found him in the empty house and immediately called us, because she knew my brother was wanting a dog. Bander was VERY emaciated and extremely scared when we borught him home. He had a fear of men and young boys,but fell in love with my brother quickly. The first 6 months or so, Bander slept with me in my bedroom (before I got married) and would cry at night. He grew more confident and was able to quit scarfing down his food and hiding it. Because he realized no one was going to take it away anymore. Once we had him calmed down a little more, we took him to the vet. We went expecting them to not know anything about him. But, as it turns out...that particular vet had his records from his previous owner's, so we were able to find out his birthdate and other important information about him.
Bander Bee has had a hard life in his four short years. He has been beaten, burned, kicked, starved and who knows what else! He made a good friend while living with my parents and brother, her name was Brittney.(a spaniel) Sadly, she passed away last winter and he is still grieving her. He is doing much better now,but seems to have a lot of anxiety when anyone leaves. He cries all day while my brother is in school and gets really upset when my mom leaves during the day. I want to make his birthday special for him this year since he is such a great dog! We are having a big family party for him today, so it should be really fun. Bander is really afraid of cameras, I'm not sure why, so i'm not sure i'll be able to take any pictures, but if I do, i'll post them.
Sorry for the long post....I just thought i better share why Bandit is so special to us.
