Title: POD Oct 11 Dee Dee
Post by: Dee Dee and Hallie on October 11, 2006, 02:14:23 AM
Where do you live?
Washington State

2.  Spouse?  Significant other?
Nope.

3.  Children - how many and ages.
Nope. Hallie thought about adopting another hooman but thought I might get jealous.

4.  What do you do for a living?
That’s what I’d like to know!
Mainly I am an artist, dogs (doxies of course!) and horses. I do a lot of pet portraits but am full thru the end of 2007 now and I am not planning to do more after that at least for a while. (I have too many other paintings that need to be done).

All Art

Dachshund Art

I also do event and portrait photography but after Hallie’s bout with her back problem this summer I have cancelled all jobs (I was booked every weekend this summer into October) except I am still doing the Schutzhund Regionals next weekend.
www.murryphotography.com

My brother and I also do web work (we are not taking more clients now as we are suh-wamped!)
www.primewebdesign.com

My brothers and I also made computer games for years and some have just been re-released.

We also sell music for, and do web sites for several musicians, Rickie Lee Jones, Joe Jackson, Michelle Shocked, etc we’re even selling some stuff for Helen Reddy now for those in my generation who remember her.
www.greatbigisland.com

We make and sell Pinewood Derby cars and products.
www.abc-pinewood-derby.com

I work for a card company doing illustrations of birds and other things to be used in designs for cards, calendars, mugs, etc etc.

I also work for a plate company, doing about 28 dog breed drawings each year that go onto plates.

etc etc…

5.  If you dare.....your age and describe yourself !
It ain’t purty! I just turned 46 5’9” 100 lbs soaking wet, geeky and gangly.  :stupid:

6.  What is your dream car/vehicle?   Color?
A shiney black four horse trailer, and I’ll take a Friesian, Andalusian, Gypsy Vanner and Lipizzan to put inside.

7.  Other than your passion for dachshunds, what are your hobbies?
Horses! I love to paint them and ride them, I grew up with horses, I showed them and waaay back in 1982 I got into the Guinness Book of World Records for riding a horse the longest (equestrian marathon. 70 hours from 10 am Thursday to 8 am Sunday). Also dog shows with Hallie although I have had to retire her this summer :( I showed my Great Dane, Fred, and longhaired doxie Jessie before I got Hallie. Spoiling Hallie is my favorite hobby. I would say art but that is my living so I guess can’t be categorized as a hobby.

8.  If you could travel anywhere in the world, where would it be?
Texas! And Vienna to see the Spanish Riding School. The Netherlands to see the Friesians. Hallie would have to come along though.

9.  Do you collect anything?
No I don’t like clutter.

10.  Favorite Food/ Favorite junkfood.
Salmon. Junkfood…probably vanilla ice cream, I’m not a big chocolate fan but I like caramel and peanuts.

11.  Favorite Movie
That’s a tough one, I don’t have time to watch movies and it changes. I love a good mystery with a twist ending that surprises you.

12.  Favorite Color
Earth colors.

13.  Favorite Song/Artist
Right now…Hallie and my song is “In My Daughters Eyes” by Martina McBride. But for bands I like Styx, Carrie Underwood, Mary Lee’s Corvette, Wild Colonials, etc.

14.  Tell us a funny story about yourself.
I was working on an oil painting in my studio upstairs and my Himalayan cat Chester was keeping us company. Without warning he jumped up onto the table, landing with each foot in a different color of paint. I went to grab him quick but he took off down the stairs, through the living room, up across the couch, through the kitchen into the bedroom and onto the bed.  (never chase a cat with wet paint on his paws).

15.  What is the most exciting thing you have ever done?
Hmmm….I don’t know if it is the MOST exciting thing I’ve done but I used to fly our airplanes my Dad always had one or two.

16.  If you won the lotto, what would you do with the money?
Hallie would get indoor plumbing first thing. I’d buy the house next door and make mine and it one big one, and put up a stone fence around the back yard. Not much more though I feel very blessed I have my Hallie girl and get to work at home and be with her all day, doing what I love to do I can’t ask for much more than that.

17.  What are you most proud of?
Still being sane after losing most of my family, Mom, Dad, sister, brother and my previous furkids. My family was very close and I still can't believe they are all gone I miss them very much. Hallie is to thank for keeping me going I don’t think I’ve ever loved any one thing as much as I do this little girl.

18.  Any other tidbits about you that you would like to share?
None that I can think of I think I’ve bored you all enough.

First pic is my Dad and I, Ron and Delia took this photo when they were visiting two summers ago I'm so glad they did. (We lost Dad last summer). Second is Hallie and her Grampa. Third is Hallie and me in last years snow. Last one is a few years ago, my brother Barry on the left (he is gone now), my sister Julie next to him (also gone), my brother Dave behind everyone (he and Barry and I had our business together, Dave and I are still running it), in front of him is my step mother Ginny (still here) my Dad next to her (gone), me holding my sisters baby (she had a little girl after this also we lost her when baby Rachel was 2 months old but both kids are doing great now) my brothers son Michael is next to me, trying to get my Jessie to look at the camera. :) She and Hallie both were/are crazy about Michael, Hallie follows him around with doe eyes when we see him even now.

Girl,  :urock:
When I win the lotto, I will buy you those horses!  You are so blessed with talent, personality, good looks and love, ya know, I'm starting not to like ya... (just joking!)
Thank you posting the family pictures.  I have the one of you and your dad tucked away in my "Circus" picture file.  The love just shines right through the camera.
I wish you a very happy POD doing the things you love.

Wow Dee Dee!  I knew that you were a talented artist but I didn't know just how much you do!  I think it is wonderful that you can spend your days doing what you love!  Thanks for sharing the pictures.  In the past five years I have lost both my dad and my younger brother.  Your right....maintaining your sanity through those hard times is indeed a huge accomplishment!
Smooches to the sweet Miss Hallie!  Enjoy the day!

Aww!  Beautiful pictures, as usual!  I also love the way the love shines through in every one.  I feel the same way about my family - there is such a strong bond among us.   Okay, so we add a stable to the "dachsie quadrangle" - we need to get this lottery thing set up!

What a great write-up! My favorite picture is the last one of the family. I wish we had met earlier in our lives and I could have met them all. That talent of yours, you have to be born with. AND...there's brains with that talent - you forgot to mention one itty bitty accomplishment - getting into vet school! Those vet schools are the hardest to get into - harder than med schools, I've heard.
