I was in the bank today and CNN was on. The winners of Iowa's largest Powerball lottery were holding a press conference. They had just won 208 million dollars. It was really heartwarming to hear them talk. The couple had met while both worked at Walmart in 1994. The guy had returned from the Gulf War not long before that and had just finished active duty in the military. His wife still works at WalMart.
Having read so many of the plans in our POD questionnaires, I couldn't help to smile at one of the things they are doing with the money-they are building a new animal shelter for their local humane society. They are also giving quite a bit of the money away to help those less fortunate than themselves. The part I loved was they plan to continue working because hard work is something that gives them purpose and has made them who they are.
You really don't see many people like this. When they first started speaking I thought they would never stay the way they are now. By the end of the conference, I had changed my mind and I think they will. And somewhere in Iowa, some dogs and cats are smiling today!!!
:apls:
For them !!!!
Right on! Here's to industry and hard work! :apls: (For a minute there, Teresa, I thought you were going to say that Rich and Deb had won!)
