Porky here: My momma finally figured out I was trying to tell her somefing! It took her long enough! sheesh....
Dis whole time, I was saving my food up for my new friends I found. I knew dey needed my help so I would sneak out my doggy door with mouffulls of food. And den daddy comed home in da morning afore momma waked up and filled my bowl again. Since I was back in da bed wif my momma in da morning, she fought I didnt eat a fing!! But, I twied to sneak out tonight and momma catched me.
:2funny: Well, i figured out why Porky has been so nervous....and the reason he screamed at my mother-in-law's today. I saw Porky grab a huge mouthful of food and walk outside, cheeks bulging. I followed him, thinking he was burying it somewhere. He walked out to our shed and I heard a strange squeaking sound and some rustling around. I went and got a flashlight and went back out. Inside the corner of the shed was three baby racoons!! All cuddled up.
Porky had taken them food and a blanket. he was so tired because he was running in and out all night to go check on "his babies". They seemed very hungry and since they were so tiny, I knew they were only about a week or two old. I called the game warden, since we live at a lake and he immediately came over. I avoided touching them just in case their mother was still around. After he arrived and took a look at them he said they looked very skinny and said he suspected their mother had abandoned them. He asked if i wanted to keep them in my shed and bottle feed them or if he wanted me to take them to the local zoo so they could get fed and released when they wer old enough to eat by themselves. I wanted to keep them, but knew they would be much better off at the zoo. So we put them in a box and he took them. I am so proud of Porky for showing me his babies. The game warden also said he thinks the only reason they lived so long was because Porky was cuddling with them and keeping them warm at night and chewing up food for them. Good Boy Porky!! :apls:
I have no idea where his motherly instinct came from, but it sure is cute. I think he screamed at my in-laws because he was trying to get us to take him home. As soon as we got home from there, he ran out his doggy door. i figured he just had to go potty. Especially since he was only gone a short time. As far as the misunderstanding about his food, my hubby informed me tonight of what he had been doing. :2funny: We decided that from now on, I will be in charge of feeding Porky, so this doesn't happen again. I am so happy that Porky was just worried about his babies. I was really worried something was going on. He was extra nervous because he could sense the weather changing and was getting worried about the racoons. I called the vet and told him the story and he laughed and laughed. At least we have an explanation to why all his levels were okay but he was still acting funny. I just hope Porky doesnt get upset that his "babies" are gone. He seems okay. We had him watch the babies go into the truck so I think he understands they left.
Good boy Porky-even if you did worry everyone like crazy.
It is amazing that he knew what to do and took care of them like that. I really love the fact he took a blanket out to them.
Glad the mystery is solved and may things will be normal for a while. Of course, with Porky around, I wouldn't count on it!!!!
Wow, Porky! What a story! (I just wanna know why your mama didn't take any piccies! Ok - I apologize for this, but I have been dying to use this smiley!) :wopics:
My husband said Porky must have been trying out his feminine side!
Porky you sound like an awful good momma! This is your cutest story yet!
Oh my! This story is priceless! Papa Porky!! :hello2:
Porky here: Momma finks I was doing that cause i'm just jealous of my kitty brother Pete. Petey has a baby of his own dat he takes care of. Dey look just like twins, 'cept the baby kitty is kinda chubby. He's been taken real good care of that baby and feeding her. Can you beleive he catches mousies for dat little one?! And den, he just eats the food momma puts in his bowl.
We are kinda worried bout Petey. He sure is acting like a girl kitty wif dat kitten. Momma says dats what happens to a cat when you fink its a girl for a couple weeks and make him have a purple collar. Cause when Petey first came to live wif us, we fought he was a girl and named him Penelope and gave him a purple collar!! Den we found out after two weeks he was a boy.. :2funny: Momma finks we damaged him. :doah:
I am missing my baby coons, but I know dey are happy at da zoo. We eben got a call from dem and dey asked if momma would bring me so dey could meet me. Dey promised to gib me tweats and maybe some toys since I took such good care of dose babies. I'm getting pretty good at earning dose extwa tweats!! :thumb:
soooo, Randy wants to know if you're sure your mamma never put a purple collar on YOU???? Actually I think you did a great job and he is really just picking on you! Enjoy your treats!
:2funny: No...Porky's collar has always been blue...Except when he was at the breeders. LOL She had a pink collar on all the dogs. (one of those paper ones)- hmmmm???
That is the cutest story about Porky! How sweet, and it's funny that he was able to keep it a secret for that long. What a special boy you have!
I think that if the pink paper collar helped save a few baby raccoons, it was worth it! Maybe all puppies should have a pink collar on for a few days. For that matter, maybe all human babies should have pink blankets for a couple of days. May make all guys become really good dads!!
